Henry McMaster Is The Craigslist Terminator
Like some futuristic cyborg programmed to eradicate his target, S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster is still going after the popular website Craigslist in spite of its efforts to police its own “inappropriate” content.
Craigslist agreed yesterday to ditch its online erotic ads and manually police a new “adult services” section of the website. That compromise was good for other Attorneys General, but not ours.
Why not?
Duh … McMaster is running for governor, and if the issue ends – so do his headlines.
Frankly, this whole episode reminds us of McMaster’s reaction earlier this year when a report was released showing a decline in online sexual predation.
McMaster promptly attacked the survey and removed our state from the association that issued it.
And why wouldn’t he? They were trying to take away his issue.
Ol’ Kneejerk Henry now sees plenty of political profit in going after Craigslist, and he’s not going to let the company take away his issue, either.
Of course, as we’ve said before and will say again, it would be nice if McMaster was as successful at winning sex-related cases as he is at playing politics with the issue.
