Kelly Payne, “It” Kids Rock FITS Radio

Listen to Kelly below. Teacher-of-the-Century Kelly Payne and the “It” kids discuss how their class became the state’s top political forum.

South Carolina high school teacher Kelly Payne has figured out the best way to shut down our founding editor’s notorious penchant for inappropriateness – bring a posse.

Payne arrived at our radio studios last night with – get this – three of her students, two parents, a gun-toting lawman (who happens to be her fiance) and her mom.

No really.

Sic Willie never had a chance, people.

In spite of this overwhelming display of force, our favorite bad boy did manage to call Payne “hot” at least a half-dozen times during their interview, although she graciously deflected his overtures and kept the conversation focused on her amazing students – three of whom (Sarah, Rebecca and Bobby) also participated in the interview.

We’re still working on getting the audio files loaded (check back for updates on our radio page), but Payne and her students were as impressive on the airwaves as they are in their Dutch Fork High School classroom, which has quickly become South Carolina’s hottest political forum.

Seriously, this “it” audience has heard from practically all of South Carolina’s heavy political hitters, including Attorney General Henry McMaster, House Speaker Bobby Harrell and former House Minority Leader Gilda Cobb-Hunter, just to name a few.

And unlike South Carolina’s “softball tossing” MSM, they don’t hold back either when it comes to giving their guests a good grilling.

Payne’s kids said their favorite guests (other than Sic Willie, obviously) were S.C. Policy Council President Ashley Landess and State Rep. Nikki Haley.

Landess and Haley were “down to earth” and “honest with us,” two of Payne’s students wrote in their reviews.

Payne said her goal was teaching her kids “how to think,” not what to think.

Prior to achieving fame with her current issues class, Payne led the fight to create a defensive driving pilot program for teens known as “Alive @ 25,” which is taught by off-duty law enforcement officers.

In fact, two of the parents accompanying Payne on the radio show last night lost their child in automobile accident, which Payne says was one of the reasons she pushed so hard to get the program implemented.

Thanks to Kelly and the “It” kids for stopping by! We look forward to having them on again real soon!

We credit Ms. Payne for bringing a gun-toting lawman. That’s a good idea when visiting someone convicted of CDV (criminal domestic violence) who posts porn on his web site.

BTW, did you discuss the fits porn posts and your CDV conviction?

I’m beginning to wonder about this obsession with CDV and porn that BIN has. It seems that all of his posts reference either one of those topics. BIN, there are sources of help for addictions to porn and violence. Since you seem to be able to use the internet, I’d suggest a modest Google search for 12 step programs that deal with a sex addiction. Or just call David Duchovny, I understand that he is able to make some recommendations. As for the CDV obsession, call the United Way and they can give a list of meeting locations for self-help groups that deal with men’s anger issues. Not treating your anger and sexual frustration will lead to more sad, desperate posts to local blog sites. Seek help young man!

After reading many of BIN’S postings I have come to a conclusion. After a person says the same pointless thing over and over agian it becomes meaningless and makes that person’s credibility take a nose dive. I mean if what BIN is saying actually mattered to anyone, wouldn’t it affect how people view his target. Well that’s all I have to say on the topic and i just wanted to put that out there.

I was not able to go with Ms. Payne and her posse to visit Sic Willie but I wish i could have. It seemed pretty awesome…plus I have never been on a radio show before, so that would have added to the awesomeness! Wow! BIN posted something at 12:51 AM..if you ask me that is desperation. Either he has no life but to blog and try to sabatoge other peoples work and bash others or he is just a vampire and never sleeps! hm…yall tell me what you think!

Ms. Payne is a true icon to her students, what a great thing to do to have her on the radio show, not only is she beautiful, she has a big heart and she is to be commended motivating and having interesting and political people come to her room to speak. She goes way outside of the scope of a teacher, she is a mentor, a mother, an advocate and a true pillar of the community. Kudos Ms. Payne, I would vote for you for teacher of the year.

    Adolf Hitler,Lenin,and Obama
All want(ed) to get ahold of kids while their minds are plastic and moldable.
If we think to our founding fathers who spent their childhoods helpng their families, hunting, fishing, and, exploring and didn’t go to school till later in their lives and their parents taught them right from wrong and their “letters and sums.”

It’s simple reasoning to let parents and kids be… don’t force their minds to be molded into mini-Hitlers and Obama’s

Way to go “It Kids” keep on thinking on your own! And a big kudos to the Van Meter parents for supporing their daughter Rebecca. More parents need to step up to the plate and not only spend quality time with their kids but actually see what they are learning in school!
