If we are going to use the tax code to prevent people for horrific deaths we'd somehow find a way to tax folks for driving more than 35 mph, or tax the hell out of fast food. Truth is, smokers die sooner and actually cost the health system less money. I'm all for using the tax code to make users pay for the true cost of what they are doing, just not sure that the ciggy tax is doing that. plus, look what happened to the tobacco money.

we must part ways on this one my friend....

The man that just bought the wonderful home on Sullivan's Island is one of, if not THE smartest men in this in-bred, knuckle-draggin state.

There is ONE company in this state that has grown by leaps and bounds over the past 20 years and its leader is....Malcom Edward Sellars.

THANK GOD he doesn't waste his talent as a politician.

Oh, and btw, raising the ciggy tax to prevent some from experiencing the horrific death that awaits after a life-time of sucking on a ciggy is worth it - even if the taxes raised were immediately incinerated. Were it used to establish nursing schools in every state sponsored hospital to address our state's nursing shortage would be a big honkin' WIN-WIN.

Don't use your vaunted sources - go to a nursing home yourself and report back what life becomes to those ciggy smokers - there is nothing about the ciggy industry that promotes life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness - its trophies are death, confinement to an oxygen tank, and sorrow while your loved-ones watch helplessly.

Let me know if you need the address to one of our state's nursing homes.

Hey, check out our tax pledge violators section on our site. That cig tax is the first one we have uploaded! This will at least provide you with a list of individuals who did not keep their campaign promises and voted for the cig tax.
