Specter’s “Cancerous” Website
We’ve seen a lot of disingenuous efforts to raise money for politicians, but the website “Specter for the Cure” is hands-down the most disgusting.
And while the negative publicity surrounding this fund-raising scam may stem from this “moderate” Senator’s decision to switch parties last week, that doesn’t change the fact that people are routinely damned to hell for pulling garbage like this.
“Specter for the Cure” boasts that it is “a giant leap in turning research into cures.”
From
Between scientific discoveries and treatments which help ailing Americans is what many researchers call a “valley of death”. People are suffering, even losing their lives, who need not.
Today, that starts to change. Senator Arlen Specter intends to build a bridge over the valley of death …
… Become a member, today, of Specter for the Cure. All lawful contributions, of any amount, will be gratefully welcomed. Those who sign up to donate $10 each month for ten months, will receive members only information on the Senator’s effort to transform medical research and accelerate cures.
Of course, when you click on “Specter for the Cure’s” donation page, it becomes clear that the donations are going to … wait for it … a political action committee that’s advancing Specter’s reelection campaign.
The centerpiece of Specter for the Cure is the Cures Acceleration Network (”CAN”)- a new institution, answering to the President of the United States, the sole mission of which is to turn medical research into disease cures.
In 2010, Arlen Specter will seek re-election to the United States Senate. Without Arlen Specter back in the Senate to see it through, Specter for the Cure could be lost to the ordinary politics of Washington that kills real change. With his unsurpassed record of support for medical research, helping to return Senator Specter to the Senate is a powerful statement on behalf of those suffering with disease.
Unbelievable … this guy is raising money for his reelection by pretending to run a reform organization aimed at curing disease.
In fact, on CBS “Face the Nation” last week Specter shamelessly promoted the website as precisely such a grassroots group.
“And one of the items that I’m working on … is funding for medical research,” Specter told the show’s host. “I’ve been the spear carrier to increase medical research. And I’ve even established a Web site, Specterforthecure.com, to try to get people to put more pressure on Congress to join me in getting more funding.”
Frankly this is a new low, even for Washington politicians.

I for one would be for a website to find a cure for RINO-ITUS.I think if we can spot politicians with RINO disesase eary enough we could stomp them out before the disease can grow further.A shot of liberty is the cure for America..
We would really be helping them.Because in the end they all look like assholes..

How can that flip flopping scumbag even bear to look himself in the mirror in the morning?
Spector has been in the Senate since like 1980 and has to bear responsibility for bankrupting our country.
One can only hope Pennsylvania votes him out and tars and feathers him when he leaves office.
