Aimee Mann Is A Nice Accident …

If you weren’t coming of age in 1985, this post will mean very little to you. And yes, it may have originated under completely accidental pretenses.

Like our founding editor typing “Aimee Mann” when he meant to search for “Leslie Mann.”

True story.

Anyway, Aimee is the (wo)Mann (ha!) who rose to prominence back in 1985 with her Boston-based new wave band ’til tuesday, for which she sang lead vocals and (swoon) played the bass guitar – oh, she also sparked a seminal moment in our prepubescent consciousness with the “Voices Carry” video.

No really, if you haven’t seen the scene at Carnegie Hall where the spike-haired hottie (pic 6) flips out on her establishment beau … it’s a must. Like the Revelairs.

And while Mann has lost the spikes, the “side braid” and the gothtacular paleness, she still plays the bass.

Which means we still swoon.

Oh, and the uninterrupted audio for “Voices Carry” just happens to be our “Today’s Tuneage.”

“You make a lot of money, but you can’t afford the free way….”

Some good stuff.

Maybe it’s “you got a lot of money….”

Anyway, quite a nice tune. Will, how’s the Columbia music scene these days? Any Blightobody sightings?
