flyover

Yup, fooled ya.

Nobody’s got them, as it turns out.

That black nothingness above is as close a look as anybody will ever get to the official Department of Defense photos that were taken during an ill-advised New York City flyover last week.

After the horrifically-familiar sounds of jet airplanes screeching over Lower Manhattan jarred thousands of New Yorkers from their daily routines and plunged them into a full-on 9/11 freak out, it turns out the administration of Barack Obama will not even release the photographs that its own military attache requested.

From CBS:

The photos of Air Force One’s low flyover of Manhattan will not be released, CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller confirms.

The operation, carried out by the Defense Department and designed to capture one of the president’s planes near national landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, sent panicked New Yorkers rushing from their office buildings April 27, fearful of a terrorist attack reminiscent of 9/11.

But now the photo-op will apparently yield no photos. The New York Post first reported the White House’s plans to keep the pictures under wraps, citing an unnamed administration official as saying “we have no plans to release them.”

The operation, which included an accompanying Air Force jet fighter, cost $328,000.

First of all, it is unclear whether there is a legitimate exemption that the government can avail itself of to keep these photos out of the public’s hands.

Citing “national security” obviously won’t fly (pardon the pun), because they’ve admitted this was nothing more that a photo op.

And if Obama invokes “executive privilege,” well, he’s “pulling a Nixon” over something totally minor, begging the question what he’ll withhold when the sh*t really hits the fan.

The public paid for these images – and the people of New York City were scared sh*tless so that they could be taken.

The least our government can do is show them to us.

Oh, if you were curious as to what sort of image Obama’s military propagandists were aiming for, here’s a pic of “Scare Force One” flying over Mt. Rushmore back in the early 1990’s …

Obviously, though, no painful memories of national tragedies were evoked during the making of that photo-op …

Isn’t that what photoshop is for? I mean, really.

Allright! All we need to do is submit a FOIA request, have Obama invoke “executive privilege”, and then we can impeach his arse. Awesome!

I agree, the taxpayers paid for those photos so we the taxpayers should have a copy.

It would be great for the American people to get a candid answer as to what this moronic flight was all about.

There is a 2-week-long Flyover Protest about the Obama-Notre Dame scandal:

Some think this tactic is too aggressive. Abortion is pretty aggressive itself, however. Obama might ought to cancel if Notre Dame can’t do it for him.

I wonder if Michelle took the plane for a little “joy ride” over NYC.

Imagine the outrage had a Republican administration pulled this stunt!

Yet another example of how democrats squander our hard-earned money. What contempt for the tax-payer!

By roofus on May 5th, 2009 at 3:54 pm

Where’s the deadbeat media on this one demanding answers?

By Mab on May 5th, 2009 at 5:26 pm

The MSM is asleep at the switch, roofus. Have any of y’all heard about this:

They nailed my front door today. And probably brought me the frickin’ swine flu in the same visit.

Isn’t it revealing that Obama is authorizing the publication of inflammatory interrogation photographs which will predicably kindle anti-American sentiment among even moderate Muslims and will likley result in more American battlefield deaths, yet Obama refuses to release the Air Force One NYC fly-by photos? (paid for by our children and grandchildren)

Roofus, the media are too busy publishing such insightful and hard-hitting investigative journalistic pieces such as “The Most Beutiful People in Washington” where tax-cheat Tim and ballerina Rham are the featured beauties!

Sometimes it is modestly interesting to watch m@r@ns respond to m@r@nic posts from sic(k) willie, but after a while it becomes b@ring.

Mab (or MAB), we expected better from you.

We patiently wait for you to make good on your promise to provide us with naked pictures of you decorating your Christmas tree. Your idea. We wait.

Hot for MAB (or is it Mab?)

That flight was not about pictures.

By Mab on May 6th, 2009 at 11:26 am

Lou — I’d be willing to bet you are right. Is our own military intimidating Obama with stunts like that? Islamic jihadist infiltrators pressuring him to continue to do their bidding: destroy America from w/in.

###

BIN — we all await your graduation from the terrible twos. The photos won’t come out until I have been crowned Mrs. America.

Sic – that classic Cash tuneage is inspirational! My bags are packed!

HOW CAN I GET A COPY OF THE NYC FLYOVER PHOTO!
IT TURNED OUT GREAT!!!

I assume everyone would like to see where the White House New Media folks intended to land Scare Force One on the web. For some reason the New Media folks were able to talk Mr. Caldera into taking new pictures of Air Force One for the recently released White House Web site. I wonder if they will use the NYC images to replace the current one. http://pfx.me/l7
