Conservation and environmental protection need to remain separate. One is about protecting our resources FROM development, the other is about protecting the resource WHEN it is developed. If we merge the two, economic development will be harmed. And by the way, FITS, you and the GOV need to look at the history of DHEC and DNR. EQC and DNR were merged about 30 years ago. The legislature found out the plan was flawed and separated them after just 2 years. The system that is in place now works, except for the unaccountable commission part.
