Souter Retiring From High Court
David Souter – who obviously never took advantage of his taxpayer-funded dental plan – will leave the U.S. Supreme Court in June at the end of its current term.
Appointed by George H.W. Bush back in 1990, Souter was supposed to be a “home run for conservatives.” At least that’s what former President Bush’s Chief of Staff John Sununu said at the time.
He has been anything but, consistently voting to the left of even Bill Clinton’s appointments.
That’s why Souter’s decision to step down won’t dramatically alter the ideological balance of the Court, even if President Barack Obama does as expected and nominates a justice so flamingly liberal that they’re actually on fire.
Incidentally, Souter isn’t old, ill or embroiled in any sort of scandal.
Word is he just hates Washington, which in spite of his many flaws is something about him we can certainly appreciate.
Of course, it’s obvious he liked it enough to stick around for Obama to come along …

Get somebody to get Obama’s ear and get him to nominate Jean Toal. She’s a Democrat’s Democrat and it will get her out of South Carolina.

From what I hear the women of New Hampshire have nothing to fear from his return! Pete, I second your comment.

Has anyone considered how much trouble could be caused by a Toal appointment? Having her driving up and down I-95 is unacceptable!
