Remember Your Roots, Mignon
Since we’ve already railed sufficiently (and indignantly) on U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn’s nepotistic “pimp hand,” we aren’t going to “go there” over the news that he has secured a post on the Federal Communications Commission for his eldest daughter, Mignon Clyburn.
As further evidence of our benevolence, we’re not even going to make fun of Mignon for being named after a steak.
What we are going to do is congratulate her on this prestigious (and powerful) appointment.
Being named to the FCC in this transformative information era is a tremendous honor and responsibility, and we’re counting on Mignon to discharge that responsibility in a manner consistent with her background.
And no, we’re not talking about her upbringing at Chez Jim, or her years as a Public Service Commissioner in South Carolina, we’re referring to the fourteen years that she served as publisher and general manager of the Coastal Times – a weekly Charleston, S.C. newspaper.
In the midst of getting her new ring kissed by the NBC’s and Verizons of the world, we hope Mignon won’t forget those journalistic roots.
The FCC is going to be at the forefront of vigorous debate in the coming years on a number of critical media issues, and the freedom of the Fourth Estate will be seriously challenged.
We hope Mignon will remember how important those freedoms are … and should remain.

From Stromboli appointing Strom Jr. to Jim appointing Mignon. Delicious!

I can’t see how this appointment is any different than those of the past. I’m quite sure SIC thought Strom Jr was qualified for his former “federal” position. I wonder how he got THAT one! Or how anyone gets appointed these days. Political pay-offs and relatives. That’s how!
And furthermore, if you REALLY knew the Clyburn’s, you’d know the real meaning behind the name. If you need a clue – look it up in the French dictionary!
Where are YOUR journalistic roots? Oh yeah – I forgot. Unfair. Imbalanced.

On newly improved Rx the senator was able to refrain from commenting on this until now… Having said that, we love filet of mignon, Clyburn Mignon hmmmm… We did a little research and were able to find a person of not much color with the same name, http://www.mignonballard.com/
While we seriously doubt after the bridge to no where and to no where over 277 in Columbia, SC (The one that could have fed a million children, tutored another million and purchased flat screen plasmas for all and thrown a filet BBQ for another million) named after another Clyburn were derived from a Google search we will give senior the benefit of the doubt…
