Obama Will “Tackle” Immigration Reform

immigration-flood

President Barack Obama won’t keep his word when it comes to cutting pork projects out of the federal budget, but God forbid a promise to the P.C. police go unfulfilled.

Thus “The One’s” pledge to address “immigration reform” during his first year in office.

Not surprisingly, Hispanic liberals are rejoicing – because they know millions of illegal aliens are about to become legal citizens, and no doubt loyal Obama voters.

But according to Albor Ruiz of the NY Daily News, it’s not about that … it’s about “The One” bringing real change to the political process:

What makes the President’s decision so surprising is that he is acting in a very unusual way for a politician: Obama is actually fulfilling a campaign promise.

“President Obama is about change, action, solving problems, and follow-through. Ultimately it is up to Congress to act, but the President’s leadership is a crucial ingredient,” said Ali Noorani, executive director of the National Immigration Forum, a pro-immigrant advocacy group.

For those who consider anything short of deporting 12 million immigrants unacceptable, the President’s commitment to reform that provides a road towards legalization is anathema. But as it has been shown time and time again, that’s not the case for the majority of the American people who voted last November for change and sent packing many extremist anti-immigration candidates.

The truth is that the American people – from workers to business owners, from communities of faith to union activists – understand that a fair and compassionate immigration reform law is critical for the nation’s economic recovery and even more so for the healing of its soul.

Fortunately, so does the Obama administration.

Sheesh. Ruiz is laying the “Cult of The One” on pretty thick …

For the record, we don’t consider deporting 12 million illegal immigrants an acceptable solution, but with 3.5 million legal Americans of all races losing their jobs over the past six months, it’s time to seriously think about ways to keep (and kick) illegal aliens out, not “seek ways to legalize them,” which is what Obama wants to do.

Look, we’ve never been panderers on immigration reform – in fact, we blasted South Carolina politicians repeatedly for using this issue as a crutch to avoid a litany of more pressing problems in South Carolina.

But it’s hard to argue that somebody who’s in this country illegally should be given sanctuary.

Americans may have shunned “immigrant jobs” in the past – and they may well do so again in the future – but it’s hard to see how granting citizenship to illegals and re-opening the floodgates is “critical for the nation’s economic recovery.”

Hate to say it like this, but we’ve got enough problems …

U.S Citizen for Immigration Reform NOW!

By Manuel Portales on April 13th, 2009 at 1:29 pm

If CIR is approved, these immigrants won’t be able to vote for Obama in 2012. By that year they would be only residents and therefore not allowed to vote. Don’t mislead people.

I hope Americans and legal citizens will stand up again, as we did with the other amnesty bills that were defeated, and let our so-called representatives know that Americans do NOT want 12 million illegal law-breakers granted citizenship. Why should these people, who break our laws at will, be rewarded for their crimes? What is the point of having an immigration system if no one follows the rules? If amnesty is granted, the floodgates will be opened wide, for every poor person (and their families) in the world to enter, so that American citizens can take care of all their needs. This will be a terrible blow to our country if amnesty is granted. We are already in dire times and we cannot afford to pay for welfare, education, healthcare, incarceration, etc for any illegal who can get into this country.

I see that this article dose not show all the postings and is ONE SIDED Against The Poor UNDOCUMENTED Immigrants ?

There is NO such word as “ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT” in Blacks Law Dictionary or In Merriam Websters Dictionary.

It is also important to note that the Immigration and Citizenship Services doesn’t consider all undocumented persons criminals. When the Immigration and Citizenship Services publishes information about its enforcement activities involving undocumented workers, it are always sure to make a distinction between “criminal” and noncriminal aliens.

Another myth is that the term “illegal aliens” is a term of art or is legal jargon. This term is not found anywhere in the INA or in Blacks Law Dictionary. The INA refers to undocumented persons as either an EWI (entered without inspection) or as someone who has overstayed their visa. “Illegal aliens” is a term invented by anti-immigrant groups designed to put undocumented persons in the worst possible light and to instill fear in Americans. It is intentionally designed to associate undocumented persons with criminality.

This xenophobic view that undocumented persons are “simply criminals” comes from the historical stereotype that the foreign-born, especially undocumented immigrants, are responsible for higher crime rates. This misconception has deep roots in American public opinion and popular myth. This myth, however, is not supported empirically and has repeatedly been refuted by scientific studies. Both contemporary and historical data, (including U.S. governmental studies) have shown that immigration is associated with lower crime rates.

Undocumented immigrants paying more taxes than you think!!

Eight million Undocumented immigrants pay Social Security, Medicare and income taxes. Denying public services to people who pay their taxes is an affront to America’s bedrock belief in fairness. But many “pull-up-the-drawbridge” politicians want to do just that when it comes to Undocumented immigrants.

The fact that Undocumented immigrants pay taxes at all will come as news to many Americans. A stunning two thirds of Undocumented immigrants pay Medicare, Social Security and personal income taxes.

Yet, nativists like Congressman Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., have popularized the notion that illegal aliens are a colossal drain on the nation’s hospitals, schools and welfare programs — consuming services that they don’t pay for.

In reality, the 1996 welfare reform bill disqualified Undocumented immigrants from nearly all means tested government programs including food stamps, housing assistance, Medicaid and Medicare-funded hospitalization.

The only services that illegals can still get are emergency medical care and K-12 education. Nevertheless, Tancredo and his ilk pushed a bill through the House criminalizing all aid to illegal aliens — even private acts of charity by priests, nurses and social workers.

Potentially, any soup kitchen that offers so much as a free lunch to an illegal could face up to five years in prison and seizure of assets. The Senate bill that recently collapsed would have tempered these draconian measures against private aid.

But no one — Democrat or Republican — seems to oppose the idea of withholding public services. Earlier this year, Congress passed a law that requires everyone who gets Medicaid — the government-funded health care program for the poor — to offer proof of U.S. citizenship so we can avoid “theft of these benefits by illegal aliens,” as Rep. Charlie Norwood, R-Ga., puts it. But, immigrants aren’t flocking to the United States to mooch off the government.

According to a study by the Urban Institute, the 1996 welfare reform effort dramatically reduced the use of welfare by undocumented immigrant households, exactly as intended. And another vital thing happened in 1996: the Internal Revenue Service began issuing identification numbers to enable illegal immigrants who don’t have Social Security numbers to file taxes.

One might have imagined that those fearing deportation or confronting the prospect of paying for their safety net through their own meager wages would take a pass on the IRS’ scheme. Not so. Close to 8 million of the 12 million or so illegal aliens in the country today file personal income taxes using these numbers, contributing billions to federal coffers.

No doubt they hope that this will one day help them acquire legal status — a plaintive expression of their desire to play by the rules and come out of the shadows. What’s more, aliens who are not self-employed have Social Security and Medicare taxes automatically withheld from their paychecks.

Since undocumented workers have only fake numbers, they’ll never be able to collect the benefits these taxes are meant to pay for. Last year, the revenues from these fake numbers — that the Social Security administration stashes in the “earnings suspense file” — added up to 10 percent of the Social Security surplus.

The file is growing, on average, by more than $50 billion a year. Beyond federal taxes, all illegals automatically pay state sales taxes that contribute toward the upkeep of public facilities such as roads that they use, and property taxes through their rent that contribute toward the schooling of their children.

The non-partisan National Research Council found that when the taxes paid by the children of low-skilled immigrant families — most of whom are illegal — are factored in, they contribute on average $80,000 more to federal coffers than they consume. Yes, many illegal migrants impose a strain on border communities on whose doorstep they first arrive, broke and unemployed.

To solve this problem equitably, these communities ought to receive the surplus taxes that federal government collects from immigrants. But the real reason border communities are strained is the lack of a guest worker program.

Such a program would match willing workers with willing employers in advance so that they wouldn’t be stuck for long periods where they disembark while searching for jobs. The cost of undocumented aliens is an issue that immigrant bashers have created to whip up indignation against people they don’t want here in the first place.

With the Senate having just returned from yet another vacation and promising to revisit the stalled immigration bill, politicians ought to set the record straight: Illegals are not milking the government. If anything, it is the other way around.

The Undocumented Immigrants pay the exact same amount of taxes like you and me when they buy Things, rent a house, fill up gas, drink a beer or wine, buy appliances, play the states lottery and mega millions . Below are the links to just a few sites that will show you exactly how much tax you or the Undocumented Immigrant pays , so you see they are NOT FREELOADERS, THEY PAY TAXES AND TOLLS Exactly the same as you, Now if you take out 10% from your states /city Budget what will your city/state look like financially ?

Stop your folly thinking , you are wise USE YOUR WISDOM to see the reality. They pay more taxes than you think, Including FEDERAL INCOME TAX using a ITN Number that is given to them by the IRS, Social Security Taxes and State taxes that are withheld form their paychecks automatically.

Typical liberal hogwash. Sure they’re paying ancillary taxes and fees, but they are paying with the money they are ‘stealing’ from US citizens and legal aliens by taking jobs from those people. And don’t give me the tired ’doing the jobs that Americans won’t do’ line.
And PS; they will get credit for SS paid under a false number of they can show that they used that number. They will not lose credit for those payments.

Legalizing Immigrants does not give them the right to vote!

Reform immigration NOW!!!!

STOP ANTI-IMMIGRANT HATE GROUPS, STOP JOHN TANTON (FOR RACE BETTERMENT) FOUNDER BEHIND ALL THE ANTI-IMMIGRANTS GROUPS WITH TIES TO WHITE SUPREMACISTS!

By Natasha on April 13th, 2009 at 3:53 pm

Deportation is not a logical option, we should just make sure they are paying into the system that they are already receiving benies from…and be grateful they do many jobs so many Americans won’t do and for a lower price and with a hard work ethic. Our ancestors were immigrants, we fled countries that were less than suitable and earned our rights to freedom, these illegals are no different. They want freedom and an opportunity for a better life, who doesn’t?!?

By Mike on April 13th, 2009 at 4:23 pm

WOW same old stupid picutures, I can asure you that in the marches on may 1, The illegal immigrants wore white to promote peace, How ever the legal us citezens rose the flag and practice the freedom of speech but you should not label all of them for doing that. Just sad some ignorant stupid turks that want to depor them after all if they get deported you will have to pay for their morages debt and any other financial problems they had I don’t want to pay for a 10 year morgage just beacuse i want to make sure hes status. Back ground check and legalise so they can contribute to the economic and stop sending money back home.

a country without borders is no country

a constitution without enforcement is a travesty

why obey any laws if laws are selectively enforced?

Back and forth the argument goes….to those of us that have lived on the West Coast and have seen what illegal immigration is. I understand the human compassion that is the immigration issue, my step grandmother and grandfather came over in the 20’s and worked all their lives to enrich America while raising their children to serve our country. The overarching problem is that they’ve violated our laws governing immigration and deserve to be returned to their country of origin. I look at it this way….I break into your house, I eat your food off your table, I ransack your house for valubles, I do the dishes and when the cops show up, I’ve done work Americans wouldn’t do so my lawlessness should be forgiven….after all I was just hungry and looking to better my life. As we forgive more and more lawlessness, we become more lawless since the law doesn’t mean anything. Whats next?

By HernandezUSA on April 14th, 2009 at 3:42 pm

Logic is not Used by the Liberals, they only think with their bleeding hearts and self guilt for living in a great nation.

Deportation is necessary evil to provide the needed immigration reform…Called “Enforcement”…a fact that has been long ignored for too many years by both the Left and Right for their own political gain.

Citizenship and legal status verification should be required for all jobs in the United States. – to close the loopholes in our immigration laws.

Millions of Americans have worked and are still working the dirty jobs that illegals do, but many Americans are being pushed out by good ‘ole’ boy hiring Anti-American H.R program. – Heck, we have a show dedicated to Dirty jobs.

Rewarding, criminal behavior with Amnesty, only tells foreigners that doing things illegally is easier then coming here legally and staying here legally.

Send the message out, there will be “NO” Amnesty for illegal aliens or their children.

Focusing on the individual illegal aliens misses the larger issue..that
Mexico is doing everything it can together with ethnocentric groups like
La Raza,Maldef,Lulac, etc. to create a Spanish speaking Illegal Mexican
Nation within the borders of the USA.People whose first loyalty is to Mexico First and who march under foreign flags carrying signs that say “Go back to Europe”,”We Will Not Assimilate” and “You Stole Our Land” while demanding the
rights of U.S. Citizens. They are NOT coming here to be Americans!
Juan Hernandez,Mexico’s Minister of Mexicans Abroad says” They will
think Mexico First into the 7th Generation”!!

We are a consensual society under a Constitution that provides rights, freedoms and the mechanics to create laws that we citizens live by. Citizens accept that breaking our laws results in proscribed punishments and full jails testify to the fact. An unholy alliance of lawbreaking illegal aliens, criminal employers and elected officials that look the other way are hypocrites and anarchists. They feel that they can pick and choose which laws are convenient for them to follow and willingly break those that are personally inconvenient. This breaks down our admired legal system and works against the rule of law that we depend upon for our daily safety and national security. All lawbreaking illegal aliens should be deported, all criminal employers should be jailed and elected officials that have failed to carry out their oath of office to defend the Constitution and our laws should be fired, voted out of office, impeached and perhaps charged with criminal dereliction of duty. The 1986 amnesty was a total failure. Never again!

Well my husband has been deported so i’m sure you all are happy right and the line of them doing work that lazy americans won’t do is not tired it is very TRUE i went with him and stayed in mexico its 110 degrees everyday there he cuts wood with a machete because there is no chainsaw. I am native american and none of that 1/32 crap either i’m not white native american who lives off the indian benefits i’m 3\4 and you know what all these white supremicists who are sitting on their high horses because they came over here searching for freedom and rights and what have you stole it from the brown people the INDIANS or maybe thats been forgotten.?.? So all that has happened to us has also happened to the mexican people so they should have the same rights as the indians because we were all here first before the spaniards before the englishman before the african americans (who by the way also suffered on some ignorant persons account) so it seems to me every race has suffered sufficiently more than they should have all because britain wouldn’t let the englishmen do what they wanted to so all of them had to come over here to conquer us and do you think they asked us what do you think about this noooo when we said no you’re not taking our land they jus tried to kill us all and now they expect them to ask forgiveness from the government for coming into a land that used to belong to them? They roamed it with us remember? Which means if we wanted to we could all rise up together indians and mexicans and run the americans out and be native americans again so what do you think of that? I’m not racist against anybody but if the americans warred against the native americans for what rightfully belonged to them then why are all the americans complaining when mexicans are coming into a land which is rightfully theirs it makes no sense. And I’m sure people think that is petty but what it really is is that its the truth and they know it. My husband worked his butt off for us and payed taxes there are very few americans who work half as hard and for the pay like the mexicans and if they do make good money its because they deserve it!
