Jesus Is In The News

Over two thousand years ago, Jesus Christ had what Mick Jagger called his “moment of doubt and pain.”

Fortunately for us, he overcame both.

In the intervening years, though, Jesus has fallen off the map. Sure, he got a bit of ink back when Mel Gibson made his controversial movie (which we failed to see the controversy in), but other than that he’s not exactly burning up the Internets.

On top of that, countries that were founded on him are now rejecting him, and his name is probably uttered more in vain these days than it is in praise.

Hell, we’re probably guilty of that more than most … certainly more guilty than we should be.

Still, with tomorrow being Easter, Jesus is in the news.

No really …

Yup, that’s him … right behind Woody Harrelson.

Our question is this … why is Easter the only day Jesus cracks Google’s Top Ten? Should he be more of a regular presence there? Or is his absence on Google’s list of “most searched terms” similar to his absence in our hearts and minds?

We like to make fun of social conservatives here at FITS. And we have about the same tolerance for sanctimonious Christians as we have for RINO politicians.

And as we’ve probably noted, our past is anything but squeakly clean.

But we know one thing … ain’t nobody clean.

And the last time we checked, Jesus was the only person who could make any of us that way.

Exactly, Jesus’ entire ministry consisted of reaching out to “sinners” and condemning the self-righteous.

Good to see a man under conviction.

Cool post. I am (sorta) one of those social conservatives you like to skewer, albeit without the sanctimonious piece; sort of a small-L libertarian one, if there is such a thing. Anyway, your Google observation made me wonder: what if every Christian in the US took 3 seconds each morning to do a quick Google search on JC? I’m not familiar with their numbers- would that put him “top ten” every day, for the whole world to see? Happy Easter!

Thanks Willie – for this beautiful reminder that no matter who we are or where we have been, the Lord’s arms are still extended!

Happy Resurrection Day!
