Darrin Horn “Officially” Isn’t Going Anywhere
After already informally debunking rumors that he had discussed the possibly of taking the Xavier head coaching job, Darrin Horn’s interest in remaining in Columbia as the Gamecocks basketball coach has now been officially expressed.
From a hot-off-the-presses University of South Carolina press release …
“I don’t get involved in rumor mills that are out there however, contrary to published reports, I have not spoken to any other
schools nor am I looking to. I am proud of what we accomplished this season and am excited about the future of South
Carolina basketball. I can’t wait to get to workouts with our players tomorrow and continue recruiting this spring.”
Is it just us or is there a comma missing in front of that first “however?”
Anyway, the Xavier rumors began earlier this week and reached a fever pitch last night.
Horn spent much of today denying the rumors to individual new outlets, but has now apparently decided to save on his cell phone bill by issuing the blanket statement.
This is good news for the Gamecock basketball program. Despite USC’s embarrassing late-season collapse, Horn exceeded expectations in his first year on the job.
Which is why he’s the man for the job, if you ask us.

So what’s the big news here? No Coach is ever interested in any other job. Until, of course, the offer comes – then, there are a million or 1.8 or 1.9 million reasons why it is his destiny to move to the area of greater need.
As a Clemson Tiger thru and thru, I hope the boy takes the job at Xavier and does extremely well.

I understand (and despise) modern typing abbreviations, like “ur” and “l8r.” Franksboy, however, refrains from such pedestrian laziness in his comment, even remembering to use proper capitalization.
That’s why I’d bet he honestly believes that “through” is spelled “thru.” He probably majored in milking and supports the current administration’s slush fund. Silly taters.
