We’ve long maintained that S.C. Sen. Vincent Sheheen (D-Kershaw) is a country bumpkin who is by no means ready for prime time.
He’s the last sort of politician we need “leading” this state (inasmuch as S.C. governors can really “lead” anything), and he’s precisely the kind of “grinner” that the bass-ackwards, RINOcrat status quo in South Carolina would put up if their goal was to try and put a pretty face on their nefarious self-serving schemes.
Which hey … come to think of it …
Anyway, we think Sheheen is a prince of a guy personally (one of the nicest in Columbia, in fact), but that doesn’t mean he’d be good for our state.
Truth is, he’s about as interested in common sense reform as Bobby Harrell, Glenn McConnell, Hugh Leatherman, Harry Ott, or any of the other RINOcrats currently running the show at the State House.
Plus there’s Sheheen’s “cookie jar” problem.
Anytime there’s a lawyer-legislator shakedown going down in Columbia, his name is always right at the top of the list, which is sure to form the basis for a brutal line of assault in the event he gets the Democratic nomination.
Having said all of that, though, Sheheen seems to be off to a pretty good financial start in his bid to get that nomination.
Since filing his paperwork on February 7, his campaign has raised $278,000. Assuming our calculator works, that translates to $1.7 million a year – if he can keep up the pace.
Obviously, that sort of haul would put him way out front financially, and make him an attractive target for “anti-Sanford” donors.
We’ll see what Vincent comes with next quarter …

how many food stamps would have to be cashed in to get $278,000?
I’m just saying…

I look forward to seeing what Vincent has to offer. He will be an interesting alternative to the McMaster/Bauer/Barrett Bermuda Triangle of Stupidity.

Hey
This guy is getting us our Stimulus money. Way to go Sheheen!
So a Dem in SC can raise money as quick as a Republican. Looks like a race to me.
