Our Kind Of Stop Sign

If you’ve never driven down East Bay Street in Charleston, S.C., chances are you’ve never seen the graffiti adorning some of the less-traveled Union Pacific train cars at the Columbus Street port terminal.

It’s gorgeous stuff, reminiscent of the artwork from Radiohead’s groundbreaking Kid A album, actually.

Anyway, this stop sign isn’t a work of art, but it does make you stop and spontaneously break into Journey … which let’s be honest, is just as cool.

Just a small town girl, livin’ in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin’ anywhere
Just a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit
He took the midnight train goin’ anywhere

Ahhhh … something about that just hits the spot.

Let it therefore be decreed that in Sic Willie’s benevolent dictatorship of the Palmetto State, every stop sign shall be thus emblazoned.

There is a stop sign in the Elmwood Park area of Columbia. Under the word “STOP” it says “HAMMERTIME.”

Is this legal?

If so, I have a slew of messages needing only paint & that special, spirited brushstroke!!!
