Barrett Loves Him Some “Stimulus” Now
Initially, U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett was against the failed Bush bailout of Wall Street … but then he turned around and voted for it.
Next, he was against the massive Yo-Bama bureaucratic bailout … and yet at a meeting with Columbia City Council (a.k.a. the “gang that can’t shoot straight”) yesterday, he sure sounded an awful lot like he was for it.
From Adam Beam over at the Metro Desk blog:
“It’s growing the economy through the private sector not the public sector, but there are things the public sector needs to do,” such as providing infrastructure, Barrett said. “If there are shovel ready projects ready to go, South Carolina needs to step up to the plate.”
Frankly, the only thing “shovel-ready” is Gresham Barrett’s rhetoric.
What the hell happened to this guy?
And why on earth is he meeting with these City of Columbia morons? Until recently, these buffoons-posing-as-elected-officials didn’t even know how far in debt they were.
No really, they were so busy screwing up they just lost track of how much it was costing local taxpayers.
If we were running for governor and the City of Columbia came-a-calling, we’d have said “y’all learn to count first and then we’ll talk.”
Seriously, living in Columbia S.C. right now is a triple-whammy … you’ve got new socialist masters as the federal level, redneck inbreds dictating state policy and a bunch of borderline retards running city government.
It’s a “capital place to be,” alright, or whatever the hell Columbia’s latest insanely-expensive slogan is.
Gresham Barrett shouldn’t be sucking up to these morons, he should be telling them to stop sticking taxpayers with the bill for their incompetence.
UPDATE – Oh look, the City of Columbia is hosting a “Stimulus Summit.” Wonder if Gresham is keynoting?

From Andy Brack’s column…
Attorney General Henry McMaster, a Republican: “As a policy matter, because we are going to be taxed to pay all this stimulus money back, we should receive our share and spend it very, very carefully.”

Gresham is losing all credibility IMO. Conservatives in Greenville are pissed that he is speaking at the Greenville tea party (outside Bi-Lo Center on 4/17) and talk radio is telling people to turn their backs to Barrett when he speaks. It’s funny, I think I read on FITS that Barrett might have been the candidate of choice for the Sanford/reform Republican crowd. That doesn’t seem to be the case now…

Any truth to the rumor that Dan Hoover is now working for the Gresham Barrett campaign?

Barrett lost my vote when he changed his vote on opposing the original “stimulus” package. Obviously, the only reason he flip-flopped was the insertion of massive amounts of pork. I had high hopes for him before that, but blatant hypocrisy pisses me off.
Fiscal conservatives deserve better than this porker. He’s just more of the same.

Barrett comes across as a nice enough guy but reminds me of your typical politician. He has no substance and doesn’t seem to have any thoughts of his own. The slate is boring. No energy. This reminds me of our Presidential primary pics. The Dems had the excitement of Obama and the Republicans had the same old typical stale political guys that makes us look like what we have become . . .boring, old, status quo. Disappointing . . .

He talks of God, babies, and our State deserving better. What an old bland routine. And the bailout flip flop doesn’t help.
