Two weeks ago, two worlds collided violently.

One minute, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth was living large, cruising in his Bentley through the streets of Miami as a big baller with a nice little buzz going.

The next minute, he was a criminal whose career in the NFL was (and is) likely over.

What happened in the interim?

Stallworth – who decided he was going to try and beat a red light – mowed down a 59-year old man who was just trying to get to the bus stop so he could catch a lift to his job as a crane operator.

From TSN:

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte’ Stallworth is expected to be charged with DUI manslaughter Wednesday afternoon, according to the Miami Herald.

Stallworth was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol when his Bentley struck and killed a pedestrian in Miami Beach on March 14.

According to the paper, a source close to the investigation said Stallworth’s blood alcohol level was .12 — above the legal limit of .09 — at the time of the accident.

The charges carry as much as a 15-year jail sentence if he’s convicted. If Stallworth pleads guilty on a manslaughter charge, he would still face mandatory jail time.

We’re guessing this isn’t going to end like the movie Bella, people. Or like Plax accidentally shooting himself, for that matter.

It’s too bad, too, because Stallworth is a helluva athlete.

But when “helluva athletes” get drunk and mow people down in their Bentleys, they should go to jail for a very, very long time … just like anybody who gets drunk and mows somebody else down.

yea, pretty sad considering that the eagles let him go after having to deal with the post TO drama, then after signing a GINORMOUS contract with the pats to be a backup, then sign with the browns (at this point i though he still had some fantasy football value) and skip the whole season.

to sum it all up, EPIC FAIL.

Think this will wake some of these clowns up to the fact they’re no longer the golden haired children that will get a pass?
