A Million People Are This Dumb

A million people were stupid enough to think that their computer monitors could give them a tan, according to a British-based cancer prevention charity that set up a spoof website called Computertan.com.

Created with the intent of warning regular tanners of the danger of UV rays, the site drew over a million visitors in its first two months by promising to pump those same rays into their homes.

From the Telegraph UK:

Computertan.com, set up two months ago to promote the work of a skin cancer charity, initially promises to ensure sun-worshippers “look great in the office” by transmitting ultraviolet rays into their homes.

But when users click to access a “free five-minute tan trial”, bars from a sun bed appear on the screen with a message warning “Don’t be fooled – UV Exposure Can Kill”.
