More Educrat Propaganda … On Your Dime

Another week, another example of taxpayer-funded resources pushing a liberal political agenda in South Carolina …

This time, the culprits are in Rock Hill, S.C., where all four school districts are being summoned (via taxpayer-provided e-mails, of course) to attend an official government brainwashing session tomorrow afternoon at City Hall.

The goal? To guilt state lawmakers into claiming the $700 million in “bureaucratic bailout” funds that S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford is currently refusing to request.

Specifically, the e-mail says …

Without the funds, the four school districts in York County predict a devastating impact on the quality of education for all students …

… A news conference will be held on the steps leading to Rock Hill City Hall to explain what happens if these funds are not used. That could include program cuts, substantially higher student/teacher ratios, employee furloughs or layoffs.

Uhh … “devastating impact?”"Program cuts?” “Employee furloughs or layoffs?”

Really?

Because the last time we checked, the four school districts in York County were banking plenty of tax dollars.

In fact, mirroring a statewide trend, all four districts have seen their carry-forward balances surge over the last two years … including big jumps from 2007 to 2008.

For example, York District One went from a carry-forward balance of $7 million to $9.2 million from 2006 to 2008, including a $1.1 million jump from 2007 to 2008.

York District Two has gone from a $9 million to a $13.3 million balance over that same time period, including a $900,000 increase from 2007 to 2008.

York District Three saw its carry-forward funds climb from $17.5 million to $23.2 million over the last two years, including a whopping $4.1 million jump from 2007 to 2008.

And finally, York District Four saw its fund jump from $9.2 million to $13.6 million, including a $580,000 increase from 2007 to 2008.

Why we need four school districts in York County in the first place is beyond us, but it sure would be nice if at least one of them was able to tell the truth.

It would also be nice if they used the e-mails taxpayers provide them with to do their jobs, not spread these sorts of false scare tactics.

Seriously, this is the second time in a week we’ve caught a public school district pulling this crap …

It’s getting old.

Should Teacher E-mails Be Used To Spread Political Propaganda?

What percent of their budget goes strictly to the teachers and classroom expenditures?

What percent of their budget goes to admin and non-classroom activities?

By Nope on March 29th, 2009 at 9:50 am

Here you go: York 1 York 2 York 3 York 4

Teachers/Classroom supplies 59.78 54.55 58.47 59.26
Guidance, Library, Health 11.62 12.6 12.19 11.81
Transportation/Food 19.62 24.48 21.4 21.93
School Administration 6.18 5.99 6.02 5.49
District Administration 2.79 2.38 1.92 1.57

Virtually all mandated by the General Assembly.

Why is it right for Mark Sanford, or his cabinet agencies, or the Legislature to use public email and spend public money pushing for actions they believe are necessary, but not teachers and administrators? Aren’t they all paid by the taxpayers?

York county needs that many districts to keep up with all the North Carolina football players they import. Why let an academically ineligible player sit on a bench in NC when he could be running the ball in York county.
Anyway…the world needs ditch diggers and South Carolina under Markie mark is crankin’ dem rascals out.

sic(k) willie,

With props to President “R,” sic(k) willie, “…there you go again.”

You know there was nothing improper about that email.

If there was you’d have filed an Ethic’s complaint faster that Howie can pass cash under the table to you and his other Voucher Clowns.

The wonderful parents and other taxpayers of York County deserve to know what the gub’ner’s grandstanding would cost them and their kids.

Wes knows!! Don’t you Wes!!?

Everybody and we mean everybody understands Markie is just grandstanding.

We can see the bumper stickers now: Palin-Sanfraud
