The Small Business Scammers Are Back
Three of South Carolina’s most influential politicians are trying to pump millions of dollars into our state’s top three research universities through a clever little scam that fools people into thinking they’re investing in homegrown South Carolina entrepreneurs.
Which they technically are … at least until a higher ed-controlled board yanks the money from this “venture capital” fund and re-routes it to Clemson, MUSC and the University of South Carolina.
No really … they’ve already done it with $8 million that was supposed to go to S.C. entrepreneurs and small businesses, but was commandeered instead by a board controlled by Larry Wilson – the big government “Svengali” to S.C. House Speaker Bobby Harrell.
It’s all part of Wilson’s government-driven “pillars and pyramids” scam, the ultimate goal of which is to eliminate small businesses’ role as the primary job creating engine in our state and hand that responsibility over to the government.
Harrell, House Ways & Means Chairman Dan Cooper and LCI Chairman Harry Cato are all neck deep in this latest effort – which could funnel even more money to the research Universities using this clever “small business” ploy.
Of course given the bad press that followed after the $8 million was “reassigned” from this venture capital fund last October, it’s not surprising that this item wasn’t posted onto the legislative web site until late Friday afternoon …
Nice try … but we haven’t pulled the goalie over here, guys.

Put it in perspective. sic(k) willie’s “small business” experience is limited to cash only payouts from voucher scammers who don’t want to be seen with him.

Shut up, BIN. Sorry to be a jerk, but you bring nothing to the discussion. I actually thought you might make some substantive, informed points to generate an interesting debate, even if we disagree. Baker does that on this blog, and so do a couple of others. But you don’t. You are an idiot with no ideas and zero intellectual capital. A sophomoric stooge who is either a low-level consultant or a legislative staffer (those guys are all low-level!).
