The chief financial officer for one of South Carolina’s largest, most scandal-plagued school districts has been fired, district officials have confirmed to FITS.
Brock Heron – CFO of Lexington-Richland School District 5 – was fired from his position yesterday in the wake of ongoing issues associated with the school’s financial reporting.
Lexington-Richland 5 is one of only four districts in the state that has not yet provided financial details – including its current fund balance – to the State Department of Education.
It’s the latest scandal to rock the embattled district.
Last year, District 5′s superintendent and one of its principals were forced to resign after an exclusive FITS report exposed both official and personal indiscretions.
Since then, two sex scandals at different high schools have engulfed the district.
