Sic’s Bracket Is Better Than “The One’s” (For Now)

After two rounds of the 2009 NCAA tournament, Sic Willie is clinging to a narrow two-point advantage over President Barack Obama, although “The One” appears poised to retake the lead this week thanks to his “conservative” choices.

Using conventional tournament scoring, Sic leads Obama 49-47 after correctly choosing 23 of 32 first round match-ups and 13 of 16 second round match-ups (compared to 19 of 32 first round match-ups and 14 of 16 second round match-ups for “The One”).

Here’s Sic’s problem, though – all eight of Obama’s “Elite Eight” teams are still alive, whereas Sic projected “Elite Eight” appearances by Marquette, UCLA and Wake Forest, all of whom have lost.

Then there’s Sic’s controversial pick of Xavier as national champs … probably the only bracket in the country with that selection.

Anyway, the point is a lot is going to have to break Sic’s way if he wants to hang on – starting with a Musketeers win over the top-seeded Pitt Panthers this week.

To view Obama’s bracket (which played it safe and picked every No. 1 and No. 2 seed to make the “Elite Eight” except for Oklahoma), click here.

And yes, what a wonderful world it would be if Obama was as safe with our tax dollars as he was with his NCAA tournament picks.
