Kill (This) Messenger
We promise there’s actually some S.C. political news happening today that doesn’t involve our founding editor, but somebody apparently forgot to tell that to the young guns in the S.C. blogosphere.
Or for that matter, the aging Communications Czar of the Palmetto State’s crumbling status quo.
Seriously, did we miss the memo? Because if all guns are blazing at Sic Willie today, we’ve got some interesting details we can share.
We’ve already written about the fact that South Carolina’s MSM is giving out awards to people for targeting Sic, and there’s also the accusation that our founding editor is hatin’ on gay people after his weekend rant on the uselessness of U.S. Rep. Barney Frank.
Of course, those flanking maneuvers merely presaged the full-frontal assault, delivered by none other than his venerable Viagraness, Bob McAlister.
From McAlister’s cleverly-christened SC Conservative blog:
… in the world of bloggermaniacs, where a single petri dish somehow hosts mutant organisms (Folks) and more rational life forms (Adam Fogle), freak is chic. After all, in a roomful of crazy people, everyone is sane to everyone else in the room. A sane person walks into a room of crazies, and the sane person becomes odd.
And so it is with mutant bloggers like Folks, who trashes Fogle like he trashes most everyone who is successful.
Bobby Harrell, Hugh Leatherman, Glenn McConnell, Warren Tompkins, Richard Quinn and most every other Republican is, to Folks, either crooked or a RINO, or both. Never mind that these guys were working to build the GOP when Folks was in his crib playing with his wee wee, begging to the breastfed.
In fact, they made it possible for an unwashed pothead to occupy a position of power in the governor’s office, if only for a brief period of time.
Now Folks has crowned himself the next media god.
Problem is he’s still playing with his wee wee and begging to be breastfed.
Aside from the fairly transparent effort to legitimize Mr. Fogle’s little website, let’s be clear about a few things here.
Harrell, Leatherman, McConnell, Tompkins and Quinn are RINOs.
They are crooked.
And we are going to continue calling them out, because the so-called “Republican” party that they supposedly built has grown government faster than Democrats ever dared to dream – once during the boom years of the 1990’s and then again by an even higher rate during not-so-boom 2000’s.
But since McAlister has named names, let’s go through his parade of big government backers one-by-one, shall we?
Harrell? He was a key player in a scam to take money away from small businesses so that he could fund new higher ed boondoggles.
Leatherman? He’s the Godfather of Pork, a former Democrat and perhaps the most liberal “GOP” politician ever elected in this state.
McConnell? He’s funneled millions of tax dollars to his beloved Confederate submarine while paying lip service to real reform – the consummate RINO.
Tompkins? He’s a nationally-renowned RINO who’s been selling out to well-heeled special interests for years.
Quinn? His firm isn’t quite as bad, but they do represent McConnell, his little Confederate sub and the TV personal injury lawyers. They’ve also given us the most liberal Republican U.S. Senator in history, and lately have stepped up their attacks against real conservative reformers in South Carolina.
Oh, and in addition to blowing your money at unprecedented levels, all of these guys are linked to the government-funded pyramid scheme that aims to place economic development totally under the thumb of a socialist-style central planning committee.
Here’s our point, though.
It’s not just that Harrell, Leatherman, McConnell, Tompkins and Quinn are such obvious leftists … it’s that they’re pretending to be pro-business, pro-growth, pro-taxpayer conservatives.
At least the Democrats in this state are honest about being a bunch of socialists.
McAlister did get two things right about Sic, though … he loves to play with his wee wee and is always begging to be breastfed.

This guy McAlister must be trying to use Sic Willie to see if McAlister can get a few hits on his blog.
This McAlister guy is definitely a RINO- all he does is slam other people on a personal level while offering no good solutions to any of our state’s problems- while defending the status quo – big government liberals.
Keep the current power structure in place- don’t rock the boat- McAlister knows best – just trust the gang and all the plantation workers will be taken care of .

sounds like our current governor….I don’t like the stimulus plan, so I will beat it up across every cable news channel there is, but I really have no other solution.

Keep up the good work, Will Folks.
Those posers just can’t keep up with you — and it’s eating them alive!

Will, some things about you, we just don’t want to know – “he loves to play with his wee wee and beg to be breastfed”.
Stick to the news, not the personal stuff, not even about yourself. I get sick of hearing about Mike Reino’s relationship problems and Earl Capps’ two divorces. I don’t want to hear personal stuff about you either – from yourself or anyone else.
Just show us hooters, man. Nothing personal about community property, eh?

Swing-
Check the article … we were (sadly) just quoting from McAlister’s column.

Why waste your breath shouting at the crowd? The same politicians you complain are RINOs would have been DINOs back before the 1964 Voting Rights Act and Nixon’s so-called southern strategy. They are Republicans because that is the easiest way to get elected in this state.
By Old Bike Dude on March 16th, 2009 at 7:15 pm
WOW! Crooner. That’s the most truthful comment I’ve read here in a long while. Good point.

As much as I think Folks’ repeated criticism of Romney is unwarranted and counterproductive, FITSNews provides an (often painfully) honest assessment of this state’s political corruption. His blog illuminates the hypocrital disconnect between campaign promises and policy outcomes, especially among so-called Republicans in Columbia. Quinndom, Lerner, Tompkins/UTPL/etc, and Viewpolitik all have an agenda, but Folks seems more intellectually honest than the others. Socially laissez-faire, fiscally conservative. In your face.
Folks’ blog is a refreshing voice in the wilderness of status quo.

Although I don’t always agree with your Mr. McAlister’s opinions he is dead on with this one. Will is a shameless wh**re who will shill for anybody waving a few bucks around. If Tompkins, Quinn, et.al., were stroking the check, Willie would be singing their song. I’m not sure how he can claim they are crooks—Do they have criminal records?—the answer is no. What makes Leatherman so “liberal”? I don’t recall him voting in favor a a general tax increase in the last decade!! RINOS??—his mentor Marshall certainly cannot claim to have done a d*mn thing to grow the SCGOP—as a matter of documented fact, he was actively supporting and volunteering for former DEMOCRATIC gubernatorial candidate Phil Lader in 1986 while the SCGOP was successfully getting Carroll Campbell elected Governor. MS conveniently became an “R” a few years later when he realized that a “D” couldn’t get elected in Congressional District 1.
The biggest fraud is Will himself. No political track record period until he signs on with Sanford in 2002—and now he’s a genius after serving a couple of rather checkered years as the “in-house mouthpiece” before his abrupt departure.
Face it Will,– Bob, Hugh, Bobby, Glenn, Warren, etc. may be getting older(read wiser) but they were kicking political behind when you were learning to ride your bicycle.
By Just a thought on March 16th, 2009 at 11:25 pm
Wow Will…you certainly are getting slammed today.
I’m surprised you didn’t have an issue or two with McAlister’s post. For Bob to say “Bobby Harrell, Hugh Leatherman, Glenn McConnell, Warren Tompkins, Richard Quinn were working to build the GOP when Folks was in his crib playing with his wee wee, begging to the breastfed” makes me chuckle!!
Tompkins, while at the GOP HQ, was working for himself and Carroll Campbell. Building the GOP, not quite, he was scaring folks from running because he and Campbell were afraid of a primary challenge.
Hugh Leatherman was a Democrat until 1996, only switched to the GOP so he could save his seat.
McConnell wasn’t welcome in the GOP because of his opposition to Campbell’s restructuring plan. And if I recall correctly, Campbell worked openly against McConnell in the early 90’s.
Quinn didn’t start building the GOP until McMaster’s rein began.
Harrell…well, he’s part of the wonderful GOP leadership that has managed in just over 10 years to bankrupt this State.
Politics is ugly…the candidates are only in it to gain power, they forget about the people once elected. The consultants are worse, they are just in it for the money…
