By way of Deadspin, which was by way of Sports by Brooks, which was itself by way of the Greensboro News & Record (links below), we have at long last reached the inalienable, incontrovertible, immutable conclusion that lesbians enjoy watching other women grind up against each other – and then cuddling when they’re done.

No really, they do.

Thus, we have the sport of women’s basketball – which ironically has been sustained for years by Title IX dollars (i.e. the fact that millions of men like to watch other men grinding up against each other and cuddling when they’re done, too).

Anyway, with times as tight as they are, you’d think every sport would be pushing to bring as many fans in as possible, using all sorts of creative and specialty marketing plans.

Like the WNBA, for example, which has been aggressively targeting lesbians for years.

Yet for whatever reason, the ACC – and for that matter practically every major NCAA conference – has not “gone there.” Or even really “experimented.”

From Deadspin:

It seems obvious that the NCAA — regardless of how many gay women follow the tournament — would have to drastically shift their marketing efforts in order to go after both the youth demo (which they covet) and the lesbians. They wont’ say it, but they’re ill-equipped to deal with that reality.

Remember, people. Lesbianism is not the same as bicuriousity – and we’re guessing that our founding editor’s strategy of blasting Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl” at games doesn’t really hit the desired market here.

Speaking of which, the self-proclaimed biggest fan of women’s basketball in the state of South Carolina is none other than our Supreme Court Chief Justice, Jean Toal.

Anyway, ho-hum … here’s all the links …
