Will -- Just here to try and keep you a little bit honest. I suppose that gets under your skin (but to think what a swell guy you used to be, Will...makes me sad we can't have legitimate disagreements without your becoming ugly about things).

Bob Dalton is, as you say, a fine reporter and a good dude. I doubt he buys your right-wing PPIC non-sense, either. But he is a great guy.

Yeah, we're just not blessed with your rhetorical flourish and knack for humor. Too busy being bitter about being ignored up here. (Oh noes. :X)

Jason Spencer has always seemed to me a dedicated, even-handed and very much in-touch reporter. He is neither a gadfly or scurrilous muckraker.

Don't resort to mocking one of the state's hardest-working journalists just because he's active in a network. As Twitter gains traction, it's an invaluable tool for him because it draws attention to his reporting and topics in Spartanburg county.

In regard to his "annoying" use of @replies...The only one I saw was to question your leads on the Katon/SLED story. He's using Twitter to save time by not having to investigate your nonsense. As opposed to you, he seems to have a pretty favorable reputation among S.C. press hacks.

Cracking wise by using a picture of him to paint him as a 'hippie' is tantamount to using your mug shot and calling you a balding wife-beater. (Read: Therefore disreputable and loopy) It shows a complete lack of creativity, objectivity and research.

Spencer is probably a fine reporter, but he has a problem with sourcing. It's usually better to call the subject of a story for input BEFORE the story runs. Surely, this must still be taught in J-school.

Ha...I am sure people have called me a tool before, but it was always behind my back (jokes). By the way, it is 140 characters. But, like I said in another post on my site, like any tech, you have to know how to use it. If you know, it is a great resource. If not, it is easy enough to sit with Brad Warthen in a rocking chair at the Home and joke about the kids and the crazy things they are doing these days.

Got to go, though. Lots of toolishness to get to this fine evening.
