Calling him “$ic Willie,” the website Palmetto Scoop launched a cruise missile at our founding editor today – accusing him of “blogging for the highest bidder” and claiming that Sen. Tom Davis and others are “forking over cash” in exchange for positive coverage from our website.

“The evidence is clear,” writes Scoop editor Adam Fogle. “Sources reveal that Davis and a number of other candidates and causes apparently gain their love from Folks — or, as he fancies himself, ‘Sic Willie’ — by forking over cash.”

That’s pretty ballsy.

And pretty fortunate for Fogle that he slipped the word “apparently” into that sentence – considering the rest of it is flat out false.

You can read the Scoop article $lamming $ic for yourself by clicking here, although the only “evidence” it offers is a regurgitated attempt to link Folks and Davis together that was made last year by former State Senator Catherine Ceips.

You can read all about that “registered agent” line of attack in this post.

Aside from the falsehood of the report, there’s the question of what – if any – credibility Fogle has in making such “pay-to-play” accusations.

Seriously, the guy is a full-time, salaried employee of Richard Quinn & Associates, where it appears his job is to spit out one blog post after the next in support of the firm’s client roster, including Sen. John McCain, Sen. Lindsey Graham, Attorney General Henry McMaster and State Sen. Glenn McConnell.

We don’t mind being attacked – but we’d prefer if it came from somebody who had a leg to stand on (ba-doom-ching).

Fogle insists he blogs on his “own time,” which in case you were wondering was 9:59 a.m., 12:03 p.m., 2:26 p.m., 4:15 p.m. and 5:12 p.m. last Friday and 10:18 a.m., 1:27 p.m., 3:11 p.m. and 5:12 p.m. the day before.

Of course let’s be serious, $ic Willie isn’t the target here … although it would appear that putting his name up in lights is good for some people’s business.

The comments on Fogle’s post at The Palmetto Poop are priceless.

I’ll say it again for any newbies – the true scale of this website’s effectiveness is that “The State” never references it in their “Around the Blogs” side-bar. The editors at The State however always feature The Palmetto Poope since they fear no loss of readership from Fogle.

That said – it wouldn’t hurt to disclose a client list – in the interest of “transparency”

When I get home from work I check out Fits… I know it is the best source of news for this state.

Don’t let them back you down Fits…stay after them and put the crooks and liars and cheats that run our state government out of business.

By Truth on March 10th, 2009 at 5:08 pm

Maybe someone should question Fogle and his new found ties to Beltram?

By Reader on March 10th, 2009 at 6:42 pm

Well, we now know without question where TPS’s allegiances lie:

The establishment. The status quo. Brad Warthen. Henry Mac. All the McCain Coattail riders.

He is squelching every comment I have tried to make since Saturday.

Foges — how can you be a good Gov. Pinkytoe and not let your citizens voice their dissent? Dissent is the highest form of liberty!

This whole thing just reeks. Seriously, pot calling kettle Adam…First off, we all know Willie is a political consultant, he makes no bones about it. I would expect, as a reader, to see posts that lean in the favor of his clients because his worldview is what it is. He’s also made jabs at supposed clients as well…So, it’s hard to say who he is actually working for. This at least makes him a little less bias’d. I mean hell, everyone “hates” Willie. But everyone “loves” him for what he is, and his writing and his reporting which is far better than any blog in the SC-sphere.

Fogle who, from what I hear, gets paid to blog. I heard that from a direct source of an organization based in Columbia and in his words “Oh yeah, I know [Adam] we pay him to blog…”

Enough said…

Will, Sic Willie, or Dear Leader, whatever you call yourself,

First time commenter, long time reader. I love your site, it’s funny to read, the commenters are even funnier. You nail it no the head most of the time. Even when I disagree, your writing is still better than most blogs in South Carolina right now.

I’m a fan, keep it up.

By Hamptonite on March 10th, 2009 at 7:00 pm

Yeah whatever Palmetto Poop, your blog still sucks.

By Harry on March 10th, 2009 at 7:15 pm

Slick is the man. Many will take shot, but they all just bounce off.

Man of steel and all that biz.

Keep it up, my boy…keep it up.

By Mo Betta on March 10th, 2009 at 7:26 pm

You should read the comments over on Palmetto’s blog. You know Sewell was just revelin’ today with that post, I’m sure he was a bit Tee-d off at your posts last week…

They all hate $ic and it shows.

I think its obvious your blog has mo’ betta reporting, mo’ betta writing, mo’ betta traffic, and I daresay mo’ betta readership…They be jealous, that’s all…

Watch your back $ic, they want to come after you so bad…

By Taj on March 10th, 2009 at 7:27 pm

I think ol Henry Mac may just be scared that Tom Davis would make a run-off against Gresham and he wouldn’t.

Tom “ringing the cash register on South Carolina” Davis

Cha Ching! Cha Ching!

Sir, would you like that in fives or twenties?

Well, if you don’t mind, I’ll take that in twenties. Thank you much.

Ya’ll have a good day now. Yep-per-ree!

By One Question on March 10th, 2009 at 9:47 pm

Mr. Folks are you saying you have never received payment for services from Tom Davis?

Ugh, you’re accusing somebody of tossing around wild insults and unsubstantiated accusations to advance a political agenda? Oh the irony. From the people who brought us the daily scandal that, ugh, never becomes a scandal. Whatever.

Where’s the newest post on the first 45 days the Obama Adminstration possibly “already destroying America” or idiotic talk of raising the top 4 percent representing “Marxism.” Or a lawyer making an accusation and conflating that into the “biggest in SC history”? Sweet, sweet irony.

By Scene SC on March 10th, 2009 at 11:34 pm

You’re both sell outs. I just like how Adam doesn’t comment on his own post 10 times with different names.

By craig on March 10th, 2009 at 11:35 pm

Tom Davis must be polling well in Richard’s polls of the Gov field. You know, the data he DIDN”T leak to the Free Times.

By Jason Pickett on March 10th, 2009 at 11:35 pm

Sewell and Fogle are both hooked in to the same crowd: the Ports Authority machine. They throw around a lot of money, which they refuse to disclose. Some of which pays consultants to make up reasons not to privatize the port. Adam is repeating a bunch of gibberish one of them likely made up. Port already privatized? BS! It is owned and operated by the state, is losing money and cannot expand without billions of dollars in new capital, which we cannot possibly get without private investment. And if we don’t get it, the port will keep losing business, and we’ll keep losing jobs. It is that simple.

Sewell and Fogle are also both getting paid, just as they say Will is. The difference is government clients vs. private individuals. Sewell definitely has been paid by taxpayers, and Fogle likely has. But I doubt we’ve picked up the tab for any of Will’s consulting genius.

By Wes Wolfe on March 10th, 2009 at 11:57 pm

I cannot believe Fogle pulled this. Can anything here be considered news? I thought this info had gone out over a year ago, processed, digested and left alone as not amounting to much at all. Considering the brain trust over at RQ&A, maybe we should all start a pool on whether Henry Mac will make it into the runoff. Guessing not. He has more skeletons in his closet than a Halloween party store. Once Bauer and Barrett go aggressive on oppo, he will seriously be in trouble.

By Caroline on March 11th, 2009 at 12:54 am

Wes, I guarantee you McMaster has fewer skeletons in his closet than Andre Bauer.

But really, all three candidates are average and there is little difference between how they will govern. That’s why I like the idea of Tom Davis. Anyone have any inside scoop on whether he’ll run?

By Old Bike Dude on March 11th, 2009 at 7:04 am

$ic you need some transparency at FITS. Start with finishing the SLED beatdown (allegedly) story. Then explain Sansford’s ESI company vs his aversion to unemployment benefits. I believe it’s becoming apparent that the mexican’s painting Davis’s house were not only illegal but came from ESI. Was Ceips right and were we all duped?
Oh…and more porn.

By Toyota Kawaski on March 11th, 2009 at 8:34 am

Tom Davis is a blow hard

By Earl Capps on March 11th, 2009 at 9:16 am

Will, I always suspected you were a gigolo!

The view is much better over here, no matter who is paying for it.

By BIN KNews Editorial Stiff on March 11th, 2009 at 8:38 pm

Gee, sic(k) willie. It seems people know you.

Maybe you should make this a fee based blog.

Then you could also post real porn.
