The first “economic stimulus” droplet – if you wanna call $350,000 a droplet – touched down in South Carolina last week, and not surprisingly it went to fund more of the same big government crap that got us into this whole mess in the first place.
In fact, it went to fund precisely the same big government crap that got us into this whole mess in the first place.
The very first bailout check South Carolina received was a $350,000 “Community Development Block Grant” from the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development, which when you think about it brings the insanity of our government full circle.
The money, according to La Socialista‘s Metro Desk, is nothing more than lumping $350,000 on top of an existing $1.3 million government grant the City of Columbia already gets.
And what does it go for?
“Building homes for low-income buyers and loaning money to first-time home buyers.”
We don’t say this often, but Jesus Effing Christ.
Are you kidding us?
Seriously, did this country not learn anything?
No really, $11.6 trillion later, has this country seriously not learned a damn thing?
You’ll recall that it was former President Bill Clinton’s rash extension of these very grants – under the pretense of eliminating some imaginary racial discrimination in lending practices – that set up the Fannie and Freddie freefall which in turn kicked off the global economic collapse.
Now don’t get us wrong, there was plenty of corporate negligence to go along with all those government-mandated low-income loans, which is no doubt why the government has decided to “punish” those negligent firms by heaping untold billions of dollars in bailout money on top of their heads.
You know, because they’re “too big to fail.”
So basically, from top-to-bottom America is doing everything wrong all over again … only this time we’ll be another $11.6 trillion in debt when it’s all over.
Nice work, O-Bailout.

“We don’t say this often, but XXX”
You shouldn’t ever say it.
Not with all the hounds of hell you are making mad around here!

Obama is truly waging a war on business and free markets and capitalism.
Mr. O. has increased our deficit more in 3o days than Bush in five years.
If Mr. O taxed everyone who made over $200,000 one hundred percent (100%, Pat) we still
would not have enough money to pay for Mr. O’s Marxist plan.
All Hail the State!
All Hail King O!
Soon, we will all be living in a cardboard box like O’s little bro.

“that set up the Fannie and Freddie freefall which in turn kicked off the global economic collapse”
Youre either dumb (likely) or dishonest (more likely) or both (certain) to keep pushing this bullshit. Try reading:

And Gloria, he has done such thing. The Bush Administration turned a 320 billion surplus in a trillion deficit this year – five trillion in eight years with another 9 trillion added by creating a new entitlement program. With the bankbailout and the one time stimulus bill the deficit for this year is 1.75 trillion. Learn to count.

I understand Charleston is getting over $8 million bucks for CARTA buses. I don’t think I’ve every seen a CARTA bus with over 3 passengers.
Ever.
For eight million bucks I suspect you could buy any and every potential CARTA traveller their own used car, with enough money left over to purchase gas for their cars at least a year.
Welcome to the Socialist States of America!

Public transportation now represents socialism? Roofus, what you need as an eight grade class in political systems, not a forum for saying silly things.

I must admit I did think similar, but a few weeks ago, I had to ride from North Charleston downtown, and the bus was FULL. I mean full, I got the last seat, and the bus remained full all the way into town.
Just an observation.
