I am convinced that MLB not only knew about steroid use, they encouraged it. I remember reading a SI back around '97 in which they described interest in baseball was at an all time low and the whole league was on the verge of bankruptcy. Miraculously, the next year there was a hugely publicized home run race between two steroid filled players. There was a large increase in the number of home runs across the board. I remember saying back then that the balls were juice or something was obviously orchestrated.
