A “broken-hearted” Bud Selig is considering stripping disgraced slugger Barry Bonds of his home run title and restoring the mark to its rightful owner, Hank Aaron.
The commissioner of Major League Baseball is also looking at suspending New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez, who admitted earlier this week that he – like Bonds – used performance enhancing drugs. All this is according to USA Today, which snared the first interview with the commissioner since the Rodriguez scandal exploded last Saturday.
Good for Selig.
It’s about time he woke up and smelled the coffee.
Of course, it would have been helpful had he developed this sort of a backbone a decade ago, otherwise we wouldn’t be dealing with this sort of fallout.
Anyway, as we’ve said before, Hank Aaron has always been the home run king in our book.
Why? Because records set by cheaters don’t count.
