Where Do We Go Now?
Like the dragonflies in that picture, or Axl Rose, we’ve got a very simple question for the “leadership” of this country.
“Where do we go now?”
Seriously, in the last five months alone, America’s government has already allocated $10 trillion on government solutions to an economic slide that shows no signs of letting up anytime soon.
That’s the equivalent of spending the entire national debt … in the last five months alone.
And just yesterday, the U.S. Senate voted to add another $1.2 trillion to the taxpayer-funded bonfire while President Barack Obama’s Treasury Secretary said another $2 trillion would be needed on top of that to bail out many of the same banks that screwed us over so royally in the last bailout.
WTF? Is there anybody up there in Washington who knows how to use a brake pedal?
Look, we’re pleased that Republicans (with the exception of Sen. Crazy Jowels and those two kooky bitches from Maine) finally decided to stand up for the taxpayers for once, but let’s not forget that it was GOP excesses and a fundamental fiscal hypocrisy that got all of these Democrats elected in the first place.
Anyway, the latest bailout-related gimmicks are government-conducted “stress tests” which will be administered to different banks in the coming weeks to decide which ones are going to get billions in additional taxpayer money.
After the excesses, corruption and outright waste of the last bailout – itself a mockery of the free market and capitalism itself – you might think these “stress tests” would be a welcome assurance that money is going in the right place.
But think about it – that would be operating on the presumption that our money should be going anywhere near these toxic assets.
Plus, it’s just another example of government picking winners and losers in the marketplace … and more of the same old “too big to fail” mentality that’s gotten us where we are today.
When is somebody going to point out that the American taxpayer, family and small business are also “too big to fail?”
Sheesh.
“Where do we go now?”
We better figure it out pretty fast.
The twig is almost up, people.
