Could South Carolina’s unemployment rate hit 14% this summer? That’s the prediction coming from the S.C. Board of Economic Advisors, which once again pared back state revenue estimates earlier this week.
The jobless rate for January – according to the BEA -is 10.5%, but the state Employment Security Commission has yet to release its figures for the month.
Of course, as we’ve reported previously, plenty of jobs have been created in South Carolina over the last eighteen months, there’s just nobody to fill them.

South Carolina should be at full employement? I’ve read some doozies on fits, but this takes the cake.

Over the last year in SC there have been a handful of jobs created while there have been many thousands lost. Anybody that attmpets to tell you that we have net gain or a very small net loss of jobs is smoking something that he needs to be passing around to make everybody feel better. The only person I know that believes this crap is Mark Sanford who has his head in the sand.
