Sanford On Early 2012 Watch List
Let’s face it – being on a national Republican “watch list” these days is a lot like being on the show “Toddlers & Tiaras.”
There’s a whole lot of prancing and preening involved, just don’t count on hearing much in the way of substance.
Which means if we’re lucky, these candidates will eventually start sounding like Miss S.C. Caitlin Upton.
There’s plenty of “makeup consultation,” though … ostensibly to put on a “good face” whenever these wanna-be fiscal conservatives inexplicably veer to the far left of the taxpayers’ best interests.
Anyway, in this morning’s list of the top 5 “Republicans to watch” in the Washington Post, coming in at No. 5 was an actual fiscal conservative, S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford.
From the story:
Sanford is using his national platform as chairman of the Republican Governors Association to its hilt — penning a series of op-eds touting his unapologetic fiscal conservatism. Sanford is the spokesman of the Club for Growth wing of the party, and, in case you forgot, he comes from South Carolina — a state with a big say in the early days of the GOP presidential nominating contest.
The top four names on the list?
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (#4), former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (#3), Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (#2) and … (cue electronic drum machine, please) Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin at No. 1, despite the fact she’s gone steadily downhill in our book since wearing short shorts at the RGA winter meeting in Miami.
Anyway, as depressing as these choices may be … let’s go to the poll!
And yes, you can vote for the little Filipino monkey pictured above. We included her in your choices …

sic(k) willie you avoid the issue. We need proof of the, so called, SLED “beat down squad.” sic(k), you have made a serious allegation. Prove it.
And prove your bogus claim that a Midlands’ elected official has a Strom problem. And prove your wacko claim the gub’ner paid off the family of some “poor little black girl” in Beaufort.
willie, your credibility, rather, your lack of credibility, is at stake.

DeMint-Romney 2012! I’ll take this collective wealth of brains and experience over Huckabee/lame jokes or Sarah Palin/anti-intellectualism any day of the week.

Wouldn’t Mitt have looked a whole lot better back in October when Bush and his uber-lib pal Paulson turned the fan on high while flinging steamy-turd after steamy-turd at the whole notion of capitalism?
Noooooo…south carolinians had to go with john mccan’t who in the dumbest political move EVER made by a presidential candidate announced a suspension while not actually suspending his campaign. We would have been better off if he would have stayed suspended and let Romney hop on the ballot in his place.

Sadly, none of these individuals should have garned any votes because most of them continue to do most of the same. A bunch of talking and little in the way of action. This includes Gov. Mark Sanford especially because for the last two terms he has lacked any kind of vision or direction for the State of South Carolina. His office has continued to push for the same things in each executive budget but lack the presentation of any real mechanisms to manifest these proposals. He is quick to point out the lack of cooperation from the Employment Security Commision (ESC) but fails to show or even present facts that will help the ESC to be more efficient. We need to start expecting more from our elected leaders. This includes a sense of urgency to addressing the facts and certain level of vision and direction to manifest real solutions to the problem.

toy-boy: What?? Tthe part about Mitt being able to speak in economically sensible terms? The part about him not being a career politician? The part about him being elected as Governor of Massachusets?
whatever….roll out your bible thumpin’ southern boy…do tell: how does Huck ADD to the electoral map?
By MAB on February 3rd, 2009 at 6:41 pm
People, Huck is a Mormophobe. NO MORMOPHOBES!
The Mormons have resolve, principles, and political clout. They are the last American holdouts of a dying culture. They will fight the anti-family agendas and the profligate greed that is redefining who we are as a nation.

Good to see the monkey is winning, I would like to see Sanford get more attention though!
