“The One” Is Angry

President Barack Obama “took a turn to Negative Town” in his weekly TV/radio address yesterday, sinking his visibly-bared teeth into the low-hanging fruit of billions of dollars worth of executive bonuses paid out from taxpayer-funded bailout money.

“The American people will not excuse or tolerate such arrogance and greed,” Obama said in the video and radio message released today. “Even as they petitioned for taxpayer assistance, Wall Street firms shamefully paid out nearly $20 billion in bonuses for 2008.”

Well, duh.

Who in the world is going to disagree with that?

In fact, we went after “golden parachutes” for the sub-prime mortgage clowns in the very first article we wrote after former President Bush initially unveiled his $700 billion bailout boondoggle.

Truth is we’ve been up these corporate scrooges backsides from the beginning of this whole taxpayer-funded disaster, particularly those jerkoffs at Citigroup who continue to pay for baseball stadiums and Mary J. Blige ads (wasn’t she at “The One’s” inauguration?) while keeping credit in a deep freeze and jacking up interest rates on credit card customers.

Also, our web site was the first media outlet in South Carolina to expose the $13 million golden parachute of our state’s top bailout-aided banker, prompting the governor of our state to call for a Treasury investigation.

But seriously, people … what did we expect when Bush (joined by Democratic leaders – including Obama) approved a bailout structure that had absolutely no safeguards against precisely this sort of abuse?

Did we really think a bunch of bankers would shoot straight with us? Yeah, right

And while we hate to poke a needle in the balloon of Barack Obama’s righteous indignation, he knew when he voted for this thing that there was absolutely no accountability to it whatsoever.

And now he’s pissed?

Whatever … what can we say, Barack? We warned you.

Of course, the only thing worse than unaccountable Wall Street bankers is unaccountable six-figure bureaucrats at the state and local level, i.e. the very people Obama is getting ready to hook up with a much larger check.

Amazing.

Ten trillion dollars later (and counting), the only people who haven’t gotten bailed out are the ones who will one day have to pay for all this.

I wonder if “The One” will visit ice-ravaged Appalachia which is currently in a state of emergency with 1 million still without power. I suspect hosting a Superbowl bash is sooo much more important…Beside, Appalachia is sooo red and “boring” …
