To recap:

1) You name four Dems that expressed varying degress of support for the “fairness” doctrine. There are currently 235 Dems in the House and 49 in the Senate (assuming Franken wins). Hmm, not exactly great numbers.

2) Aside from Louise Slaughter’s failed introduction of the MEDIA Act in 2005, there hasn’t been hint that the majority of Democrats support this nonsense.

3) Presently, there is no bill presently in front of either house of Congress.

4) There is no bill in committee.

5) The fairness doctrine could go back into effect if Obama changed the composition of the FCC Commissioners, except…

6) This is what Obama’s position on the Fairness Doctrine is:

“Sen. Obama does not support reimposing the Fairness Doctrine on broadcasters.” Okay? No suport for the Fairness Doctrine. Got it?

7) This is a money making scam. You’re willing to play your part in this little canard, but don’t expect everyone to swallow. It’s a joke and you know it.

Let’s see … Pelosi has endorsed it, as have Senators Durbin, Kerry, Bingaman and several others.

Additionally, recent efforts by GOP senators (Thune and Coleman, in particular) to expressly outlaw the doctrine have been blocked … by Congressional Dems.

Anything about those moves you guys don’t understand?

Plus there is recent polling data that indicates public support for the concept, although it’s unclear if the free speech component was raised in that poll.

So to recap – there are numerous high profile Dems on the record in support of the doctrine, a base of public ignorance to build on, and a ready-made vehicle for advancing the issue.

But yeah, we’re “intellectually and morally bankrupt” for suggesting it might be on the DC radar.

Whatever …
