But isn't it ironic that a party that has a problem (esp. after the last election) with being seen as a party of white men with only Southern regional appeal might elect as its first post-2008 chairman a white guy from the Deep South who is preceived to have a race problem? Maybe it's not fair to Mr. Dawson's character, but from a PR standpoint you just don't want your new Republican chairman having to defend a white country club membership as his first act in the national media.
