Two For The Show?

S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford has made restructuring the executive branch of government in the Palmetto State one of his top priorities, and while lawmakers have refused to enact any of his proposals, that may not stop two prominent Midlands politicos from taking Sanford’s idea and running with it … literally.

Sources tell FITS that S.C. Commerce Secretary Joe Taylor and City of Columbia Councilman Kirkman Finley are contemplating running for governor and Lt. Governor as a joint ticket in 2010, with Taylor reportedly running for the top spot and Finley running as his “No. 2.”

Why is this significant?

Well, beyond creating a precedent-setting campaign concept, both Taylor and Finley are multimillionaires capable of self-financing their joint bid exclusive of the other.

We’d heard that Taylor was mulling a bid to succeed his current boss, but if true this joint ticket concept would certainly represent an unexpected twist to those rumors.

Stay tuned … we’ll let you know more as we uncover it.

Why can’t all these self serving assholes just go away? We already have two of the same as Gov. and Lt. Gov. now. Where do they keep coming from?

Multimillionaires thanks to their daddies. What do these two know about running a state. Joe the Inheritor couldn’t bring a job home if his job depended on it(kind of ironic don’t you think). Kirkman can’t even operate a restaurant, ie. the closing of Rising High and Congree Grill, in these hard economic times. How in the hell is he going to promote economic prosperity when he can’t even sell a sandwich.
Can the SCGOP draft a candidate from the GaGOP?

RD Neck: I guess you would have Jakie? Please. Joe and Kirkman could just retire to their beach houses and leave the dirty work to others on their payrolls. I have known Joe and Kirkman for decades and they are not afraid to get into a situation and get their hands dirty. I admit both could use some getting-along-with-others skills…..

Todd — I am sold already if:

1. They seek truth, or getting as close as they can possibly maneuver to it.

AND

2. Can’t get along with others.

They are perfect. Hasn’t that been the gist of the whole vomit fest hurled at Governor Sanford — his standing on principle, and reality, not popularity?

The negative ads would write themselves. It would just be a scrolling screen of companies that considered SC and went elsewhere. Also, the vote in the midlands would be too divided. Furthermore- the ticket thing is doomed to fail. If the reformers nominate this guy- gresham is the next governor. Terrible, terrible mistake for them. Davis seems like the only viable fiscally conservative candidate.

Kirkman is out for Kirkman and that’s all. He inherited all his money and has failed miserably @ running businesses. Thank goodness owning land doesn’t require to much work. These 2 are out for themselves and the power, that’s what it’s really all about. Just what SC needs…another multi millionaire governor…now that’s someone in touch with the average South Carolinian

Todd – I have known them both probably 30 plus years. It’s not their people skills that are the problem (even though neither one have them) it’s that they’re both az dumb as a bag of diapers. We have enough stupid people in the state house that love to hear themselves talk, ws sure don’t need two more.

Total BS. Kirkman is supporting Barrett for Governor

Tradd must be from Delaware because he just makes stuff up! You need to check your facts on Joe Taylor before you hack on someone like that. Reminds me of Joe Biden.
