Meet Blue-Eyed Bride

For those of you who’ve never made the pleasure of her acquaintance, our founding editor’s wife is pretty much the bomb. And no, that’s not her in the picture … although we’d be lying if Sic Willie wasn’t secretly contemplating a repeal of South Carolina’s bigamy laws right about now.

Kidding, kidding … well, a little.

Anyway, the inimitable Mrs. Sic (this is her) is as discriminating as she is “don’t mess with,” people.

As such, she doesn’t particularly care what our favorite bad boy does for a living (or how important he occasionally fancies himself as being).

That’s why she typically logs onto FITS only once or twice a week …

Wait … what?

“I already have one five-year-old to keep track of,” she explains.

Ouch.

Of course, one website that Mrs. Sic Willie simply cannot do without is Blue-Eyed Bride – an exquisitely-entertaining, deliciously-diverse and distinctly Southern diary written by a self-described “preppy grammar queen, Emily Post wannabe, Williams-Sonoma junkie.”

Blue-Eyed Bride is the Belle of the Southern blogosphere, people, and Mrs. Sic literally can’t get enough.

At least five times a day we hear “Blue-Eyed Bride did this …” or “Blue-Eyed Bride did that …” which is invariably accompanied Mrs. Sic forwarding us a link to the website.

And judging from its clean aesthetics, snappy writing-style, the author’s impeccable taste and her growing following, the real “Blue-Eyed Bride” looks poised to make the leap from garden variety life-casting to online moneymaking sooner rather than later.

The website is the creation of Louisiana native Erin Akin Carroll, who lives here in Columbia with her husband, Todd, dogs Boudreaux (how cool is that name) and Fiona.

Oh, and Erin and Todd have a baby on the way!

We’ve met Erin a couple of times, and she’s every bit as engaging in person as she is on her site.

And yes, her eyes really are that blue.

Anyway, when you’ve gotten your FITS fix for the day, be sure to check out Blue-Eyed Bride … if for no other reason than to undo all the cultural damage we’ve done.

Oh, and tell her Mrs. Sic sent ya …

Erin is a great person. Her husband Todd is a nice guy as well. I believe he is a frequent caller on “The Sports Hotline” talk show with Ernest and Bobby which is broadcast locally here in Columbia.
