Worse keeps getting worse at what could be the worst government agency in all of South Carolina.
And believe us, that’s saying something.
Ineffective, inefficient and totally incapable of performing basic math, the legislatively-controlled S.C Employment Security Commission is on the verge of having its leaders canned by Gov. Mark Sanford after they more than doubled from $146 million to $316 million a federal loan request from only three weeks ago.
That’s right … three weeks ago.
As a result of those numbers, Sanford may have a bit more public support for getting rid of the commissioners – all former lawmakers.
He may also get some rare support from current lawmakers, who are fuming mad that the ESC appeared before them earlier this week and neglected to mention anything about the loan.
“The ESC is out of control,” Sanford said. “It is not performing its mission of putting South Carolinians to work, and the only solution they seem capable of offering is asking for more in the way of money and tax increases.”
Specifically, the commission has proposed tripling employment taxes on South Carolina businesses to pay for additional benefits.
Sanford also called for an expedited audit of the troubled agency and an “expedited timeline” for it to share detailed job data with the S.C. Department of Commerce.
If he doesn’t get what he wants within two weeks, Sanford said he’s pulling the trigger on the commissioners.
Good for him. He should have done it three weeks ago.

Since these commissioners work, like, three or four days a month for 100 grand each, I’m in. Hey Mark, I’ll give you 8 full days for the same money and reports out the kazoo. Deal? Fire ‘em. Call me.

If Marky Mark would bring some jobs to SC, he wouldn’t need to harrass the ESC.
The ESC is trying to deal with his bad economic policies that put many SC’s citizens out of work.

So far, there IS no better way to find out what you need to know than from the drunk clowns.

Was a bigger dick ever born than Marshall Sanford.
A can of tuna with “Republican” written across the label could win the Governor’s race in SC.
Shame on all of us if this idiotic, narcissistic clown is the best we can produce as our state’s CEO.

If they can’t account for every dollar in about 24 hours’ notice (just to run some quick edit checks), then they aren’t doing their jobs. If they aren’t running updated cost scenarios every day, if they aren’t collaborating with other agencies to brainstorm new ideas, if they aren’t 100% transparent, then FIRE THEM.
(But really, does that kind of accountability ever happen in SC?) I’m with Todd — give me a week, I’ll tell you where their money is and what’s really going on at the ESC.

Catherine, go polish your brass. Or jump out of an airplane (which is something any fool can do). You say “edit checks” and “cost scenarios” like you have any clue what you are talking about? What a fake. BTW, are you paying sic(k) willie under the table or have you made him an honest man?

BIN,
Why is whatever does or does not go on under Sic Willie’s table of such morbid concern to you?
Do you have table envy?
