Eastwood Gets No-bama Love

Two days after the inauguration of America’s first bi-racial president, one of the few Hollywood celebrities who supported Republican John McCain got snubbed big-time for his portrayal of a curmudgeony old white dude who points guns at black and Asian hoodlums.

Really?

Guess Clint Eastwood forgot to pull a Heidi Montag and pick up his K-Mart line of Barack’n & Rollin’ shirts in time for the inaugural.

From the Philadelphia Inquirer:

The most surprising snub in the 2009 Oscar slate was Clint Eastwood, who had been touted in the best-actor and -director categories for his year-end hit Gran Torino. (He won Oscars for directing Million Dollar Baby and Unforgiven – he’s never won as an actor.) Perhaps, in these new post-racial Obama days, the drama about a crotchety bigot staring down blacks and Asians on the streets of Detroit seemed too anachronistic for the members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Good to know reverse racism is alive and well, people.

In case you were wondering, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button led the way with 13 nominations, and Heath Ledger as expected got a posthumous nod for Best Supporting Actor.
