Caroline Kennedy, daughter of former President John F. Kennedy, has removed her name from consideration for the open New York Senate seat in surprise announcement that comes two days after her uncle, Sen. Ted Kennedy, collapsed at an Inauguration luncheon for President Barack Obama.
Not a good week for America’s former political royalty.
Whether or not Kennedy had a chance at the seat (which is being appointed by New York Gov. David Paterson) is up for some debate.
Kennedy’s people say that Paterson was going to offer the seat to her, but other sources claim he told her that he had chosen someone else.
Officially, Kennedy cited the always-informative explanation of “personal reasons” for her decision, which makes us wonder whether or not somebody had “the goods” on her, and if so, what those goods were?
Hopefully it wasn’t naked pics …
Anyway, the front-runner for the position is now New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.
