I have a port story, of sorts. I remember back in 1863 when some high school dropout brats (with more than a whiff of Downs, if you get my drift) built a metal underwater boat (a “submarine” they called it) and launched it into the Charleston harbor. Damn fools. The blame thing sank like a stone, of course, and that all drowned. Now I read where millions of dollars have been spent by the state to “restore” the thing and that some want to put it on display in North Charleston. Haw! You in the Present have strange ways.

Let Groseclose be just the beginning of the necessary housecleaning.

The SPA’s public relations department needs to be revamped to strive for honesty and openness to the general public.

Groseclose claimed the port of Charleston was running out of room for a decade. Now he leaves with our existing 3 terminals operating at less than 50% capacity, prior to Maersk pulling up anchor.

He leaves us with a boondoggle project at the navy base that is incapable of loading double stacked intermodal trains -a necessity in today’s container market.

Let’s hope they bring in some real talent that can privatize our existing terminals and not be a cash drain for state taxpayers.

I guess the financial Analysts for these companies told Mayor Riley, Summey and the ILA to …SHOVE IT !!! NO WONDER Mayor Riley was begging for bailout LOOT for the 175 Million worth of track from Charleston to Summerville….

Thats TRACKs of GOLD !!!!

I guess that also means that the permit for the EXPANSION of Kinder-Morgan was a “grab your ankles” MOVE !!!!!
