Super Boring

It could be we’re just “super bitter” that our beloved Indianapolis Colts got bounced from the playoffs (again), but is anybody else super unexcited about Super Bowl XLIII’s matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers?

Seriously, the friggin’ Cardinals are in the Super Bowl?

That sounds about as right as the Clippers competing for the NBA championship, people.

And of course they’re up against the Steelers, who managed to get past the Chargers (huh?) and the high school offense of the Baltimore Ravens to punch its Super Bowl ticket.

Whither the Patriots? Cowboys? Colts? What of the Giants? Titans? Panthers?

Where’s Brett Favre?

Instead of a major market or marketing dream, the 2009 NFL playoffs have presented us with perhaps the most boring Super Bowl match-up ever.

And while we’re certainly all about delving into the determination of Cardinals’ QB Kurt Warner (get ready to hear the work “Sticktuitiveness” a lot over the next two weeks) and we can certainly appreciate the masterful Steelers’ defense, that’s all we got to chew on this year?

Seriously, where the heck are the NFL promoters going to find interesting story lines to feed the massive Super Bowl media machine?

Oh well, at least the commercials will be interesting …

yea, this superbowl is nothing compared to last year. but im sure that the marketers will find something. this is only like the 6th time these franchises have ever met, and the last time they did meet was when the cards were in st. louis. i think this game is going to be good though. i went to see the cards play the panthers in october and fitsgerald is a flippin beast.

This is probably because of my tendency to route for underdogs, but I’m actually kind of excited about the Cardinals being in the Super Bowl. Seeing a team so historically awful as Super Bowl Champ would be cool. I think they’re going to blow it though.
