Desperate Times Call For …

Since some people (not us) apparently feel sorry for all the newspaper reporters who are losing their jobs left and right these days, a group of industrious scribes is seeking to turn sympathy into profit by organizing “National Buy A Newspaper Day.”

The group, which has over 6,000 Facebook members, hopes to encourage Americans to buy a newspaper on February 2 as their a way of lending a hand to these outlets during their time of need.

In fact, here’s a nifty little analogy from the 24-year-old reporter who is organizing the event (courtesy of All Things Digital, ironically):

“Millions of people have dogs to keep them safe, and being a dog owner myself, I know it doesn’t cost much more than 75 cents a day to keep that dog well-fed and happy,” Chris Freiberg says. “Newspapers can be just as effective a watch dog for the entire community, and they don’t require much more than that to survive either.”

Oh brother …

Of course the last time we checked, our dog never tried to shove a socialist, politically-correct agenda down our throats.

Her tongue? Now that’s another story …

Anyway, it’s nice that this guy has come up with a creative way to generate public awareness and sell a couple papers in the process, but sorry, dude … we’re not buying.

I’m still angry that “Dondi” and Bob Talbert were dropped.

Since our most visible source of the newspaper industry in Columbia is The State, I agree it is hard to feel too sorry for those guys. They spend 90% of their ink to lay out their own political agendas with their stories instead of reporting objectively the stories. The Gonzalez brothers are spinning in their graves. Brad and Cindi are pathetic. Nina Brook was the worst, however. Brad must have pictures of his bosses with gay goats to have kept his job this long. Ask some of the rank and file reporters who do not work on Brad’s imperial floor.

By the way, Sic, how is “Peyton” doing these days? Thinking about re-naming him “Kurt?”

If newspapers were interested in printing the truth, they wouldn’t have such problems. Newspapers no longer hold value as far as news.
When was the last time the State did an indepth? Well, we did recently have ONE in depth newsstory recently… ONE PEOPLE ONE>
Why bother to turn on the lights and ignore the news if you are a newspaper?

    Dull. Yeah. I know. I’m sorry. I’m not worthy. I — I — I…
