1. COKE

"The Coca-Cola logo was first advertised in the Atlanta Journal in 1915 and also appeared on the display of Pemberton’s pharmacy. A Coca-Cola dispenser with a Cola-Cola logo was later created by Raymond Loewy. The Coca-Cola logo got registered as a trademark in ***1887*** and has since then become the brand’s corporate identity."

2. PEPSI

"Pepsi-Cola is one of the most famous soft drinks consumed worldwide. Manufactured and marketed by PepsiCo, it was first developed and produced in the early 1890’s by Caleb Bradham, a pharmacist in New Bern, North Carolina labeled as “Brad’s drink”. In 1898, Bradham renamed his drink into “Pepsi-Cola”...In ***1898***, Bradham used a scribbled logo script as the first Pepsi logo to brand the product."

@Mab - At least you include yourself in your berations.

It is said that emulation is the highest form of flattery, and who better to flatter than the head man in charge!? I think it's a very strategic move and they know exactly what they're doing...just like every other company still surviving after all these years (without the help of a government bailout - I think those companies knew exactly what they were doing too FREE MONEY but that's another story!).
