What “On Like Donkey Kong” Means
Let’s face it, our relationship with S.C. Chief Justice Jean Toal has gone steadily downhill from the good ol’ days when we used to knock back highballs and share high fives with her and her infamous “Butch Brigade” at Snow Caps bar.
Ah, those were the days.
So what happened?
Well, maybe it has something to do with the fact that over the last two years, we’ve exposed the Supreme Court for being the “cheap robes” that they are, and brought their “Nil Ultra” bench one mainstream media headache after another.
First we blew up Beattygate.
Then we nailed the bar exam scandal.
Then we pulled the curtain back on the Court’s corrupt, Inquisition-style attorney discipline methods … as well as Queen Jean’s pay raise scheme and the Court’s ongoing efforts to manipulate its review by the American Bar Association.
Hell, we even helped shoot down Toal’s hand-picked Associate Justice last year.
All of these stories earned the Court forests worth of unfavorable newspaper coverage, and made life incredibly difficult for Toal and her cronies.
Of course, the Sno Caps bartenders didn’t mind it a bit …
Anyway, up until this week Toal’s forces have taken their licks pretty well (no pun intended), and refrained from engaging in any petty, pointless attempts to retaliate or censor us for simply telling the truth.
Ironically, now that they have finally chosen to fight back, it isn’t over anything we said – but rather something the Chief Justice herself said.
Another irony? When the S.C. Bar did Queen Jean’s bidding yesterday and removed a clip of her blasting S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster from the internet, they attempted to destroy the evidence of one of the few times Toal got something right.
Basically, she called McMaster out for being an incompetent grandstander, which let’s face it … is pretty much dead-on.
So why – other than not wanting to pick a high profile fight in public – did Toal’s minions act so quickly to squelch the contents of this tape?
Well, as one of our sources has repeatedly suggested, Toal may have broken her own rules regarding attorney discipline and judges conducting independent investigations with her public comments on the tape.
We weren’t initally sold on that claim, but the fact that it was so quickly yanked off of our YouTube page certainly adds some merit to that complaint.
But did Toal’s syocphants at the S.C. Bar have a legal basis for their censorship of this video?
We’re about to find out.
It’s too early to discuss all the details of our impending motion, but let’s just say our first conference with our attorneys on this matter went swimmingly.
Oh, and we hope that the S.C. Bar’s counsel, Toal’s attorney (editor’s note: rrrrawww, tiger) and the lawyers at YouTube fare better against us than the clowns at FOX did. Or that judge who tried to keep us from publishing former Senator Randy Scott’s jailhouse tapes. Or for that matter, anybody who’s ever so much as pondered going up against us in a court of law.
Our attorneys not only have a reptuation for winning, but for keeping our pockets lined with the riches of folks who try and pull precisely this sort of crap.
What can we say? Freedom of the press is a b*tch … and if somebody’s trying to take it away from us, well, we hope they’ve got their chinstraps buckled.
Like our founding editor Sic Willie said yesterday, it’s “on like Donkey Kong,” people.

sic(k) willie, how is anyone expected to take you seriously? What a pimp!
You still refuse to expose the Midlands elected official you claim has a Strom problem and still refuse to give us the details you promised of your claim that gub’ner Sanford paid off the family of some “poor little black girl.”
If you refuse to address those frauds, how can anyone be expected to take you seriously? This sounds like just another willie scam. Just like the Strom problem and the “little black girl.” And your Brazillions of other scams.
But there is one question we have.
How many times did you “hit on” Jean at Snow Caps Bar, and was she ever stupid enough to give you “the time of day” ? ;) Were you a little supreme court’er?

“Supreme Court’er.” BIN made a funny (for once).

Talked to a guy last year about all this mess (eg. issues with the Chief Justice…he had a lot of attorney friends that have your opinion), but it has always seemed to me that no one cares about any of this except the Supremes and the politically connected lawyer class. Personally, these issues makes my eyes glaze over like a city council meeting, but I would be interested if it were politically relevant outside the law bubble.

There goes that BIN broken record again…..midlands official….oh you mean Jake Knotts who allegedly has that silent partnership in a local Lexington strip club and may or may not have had a bit of a strom problem?

Wes Wolfe: I understand your position. Your opinion will change dramatically and passionately the moment the Queen targets you, your case or your lawyer all to help one of her friends and “politically connected.” Then you will rant and shout like “Frank” is doing on other posts on this site. People will look at you with glazed over eyes and say, “Yeah. Yeah. I understand,” when they don’t really care. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Edmund Burke

I think that’s cute the way you call yourself “the press” and all.

I have said it before, Governor Sanford please use your authority under the South Carolina Constitution and get Jean’s unethical, embarrassing, hit & run, first amendment censorship, Code Of Judicial Conduct violating butt out of the Supreme Court and out of the Judiciary!!!! She is an embarrassment to the judical system!
I support accountability and it’s damn time Jean Toal is held accountable for her blatant violations.
South Carolina Constitution;
ARTICLE XV.
IMPEACHMENT
SECTION 3. Removal of officers by Governor on address of General Assembly.
For any willful neglect of duty, or other reasonable cause, which shall not be sufficient ground of impeachment, the Governor shall remove any executive or JUDICIAL OFFICER on the address of two thirds of each house of the General Assembly: Provided, that the cause or causes for which said removal may be required shall be stated at length in such address, and entered on the Journals of each house: And, provided, further, that the officer intended to be removed shall be notified of such cause or causes, and shall be admitted to a hearing in his own defense, or by his counsel, or by both, before any vote for such address; and in all cases the vote shall be taken by yeas and nays, and be entered on the Journal of each house respectively.

[Re: Liz's comments @ Toal Slams McMaster For Handling Of Sex Case 1/10/09
â€lady, that sounds like a conspiracy and those only happen in Hollywoodâ€]
Liz — some local yokel told me the same thing, “That sounds like a conspiracy — why, it goes all the way to the top.” [my mouth = agape]
See, Liz, this is the smug phraseology they throw at you — it ain’t right!!!
