Longshanks Is Dead
After looking pretty rough at the end of the movie Braveheart fourteen years ago, King Edward “the Longshanks” finally died today.
At long last, the Scots can finally taste Freeeeee-doooommmmmm!
Which is something they’ve been yearning for all these centuries, sort of like fellow Braveheart star Sophie Marceau’s boobs (editor’s note: Hello!) …
Anyway, when we say “Longshanks,” we’re obviously not referring to Edward I, who died in 1307, but rather actor Patrick McGoohan, who died yesterday in Los Angeles.
McGoohan masterfully portrayed Longshanks in the Academy Award-winning movie, but he was also famous for starring as a British spy in the 1960s TV series “Secret Agent.”

McGoohan is my hero; I one day will drive a green lotus super 7 out of the state parking garage after tendering my resignation.
Another good actor and decent person passes away. He wrote most of ‘The Prisoner’ episodes. Great chap. Rest in peace

“The Prisoner” was really a great show. The Sci-Fi channel used to run it years ago; I wonder if any channel is running it now?

He also starred as the mysterious Rev. Dr. Syn in the “Scarecrow of Rodney Marsh” which was a part of the Disney tv anthology program in the early 1960s and later re-edited and released as a feature film in the 1970s. Both version were released on DVD for the first time last November.
