“I Can Has Bailout?”

Saying he needs “ammunition” to fight a war against unemployment, President-elect Barack Obama is asking the U.S. Congress to hook him up with the other $350 billion of a massive (and failed) $700 billion bailout boondoggle that was passed last October.

That money, of course, is on top of a separate $800 billion bailout … err, “rescue plan” that Obama is proposing to help create millions of jobs or something.

Oh, and all that money, of course, is on top of the estimated $10 trillion the federal government has already spent or pledged to spend in dealing with the global financial crisis.

Sheesh …

Didn’t all this start because government got into the business of giving loans to people who couldn’t afford them? Yup.

Look, since the “Bush bailout” was passed, America has lost 1.5 million jobs.

And just yesterday, shares of Citigroup (these assholes) plummeted 17% on expectations of at least a $10 billion operating loss – all after the government pumped $45 billion into the company and guaranteed another $269 billion in “troubled” assets.

Citigroup, of course, is still spending $400 million to name a baseball stadium, though … and jacking its interest rates on credit card customers (i.e. the people who will ultimately have to pay for all these bailouts).

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again … it’s time for these bozos in Washington to stop pissing billions down the drain on “rescues” that aren’t rescuing anything.
