Even though she rips into us (well, new media in general) within the first minute of an incredibly ill-advised video rant, we still “heart” former GOP veep diva Sarah Palin.
What can you say about true love – it’s just not something we’re going to be able to let go of so easily.
After all, we loved Palin before McCain even picked her, and we gotta say Sic Willie still hasn’t called a doctor even though at this point it’s lasted for more than four months.
Anyway, after an awkward moment in which she addresses rumors about who carried her youngest child, here’s the aforementioned sleight from the aforementioned incredibly ill-advised interview:
“When did we start accepting as hard news sources, bloggers – anonymous bloggers, especially. It’s a sad state of affairs in the world of the media today, mainstream media, especially, if they’re going to rely on anonymous bloggers for their hard news information. Very scary.”
Later, Palin addresses the infamous Katie Couric interview …
“I knew it didn’t go well. I knew it didn’t go well the first day and then we gave her a couple of other segments after that. And my question to the campaign was, after it didn’t go well the first day, why were we going to go back for more? And because of however it works in, you know, that upper echelon of powerbrokering, in the media, with the spokespersons, it was told (to) me that “yeah, we’re going to go back for more.’ And going back for more was not a wise decision, either.”
Palin continues to bash the media for the duration of the interview, which you can watch for yourself here, although we’re going to warn you it’s pretty painful … except for the visuals, of course …
Uhhhh … yeah.
Look, princess. Love of our loins, heart of our hormones, we feel you … we really do.
The media sucks … (and) always have.
And they totally hosed you, no doubt about it. They applied the double-standard, made unflattering edits, quoted you out of context, invaded your family’s privacy, all of that … we remember … and we’re with you.
They kissed Barack Obama’s ass all the way to the White House, while doing their damnedest at every turn to make you look as bad as they could.
It’s totally unfair, totally unprofessional and totally uncalled for.
But here’s the thing … it’s totally never going to change.
And when you play ball at that level (hell, even at the state level) you gotta flat out roll with it.
Roll with it and get over it.
Seriously, Sarah. Because what does doing anything else ever “get’cha?”
You gotta be water off a duck’s back and let them know it doesn’t bother you – that they don’t bother you – or at the very least pick your battles when something really does bother you.
Which P.S. note to self – it shouldn’t.
How come? Because they’re sniveling little snots and you’re Sarah M’F*ckin’ Palin. The second you let them know they’ve gotten to you, it’s over, and judging from this interview, it likely is.
But it doesn’t have to be that way … we can help you fix this.
Sarah, sweetie. We want you to come down to South Carolina and play ball in 2012. We really do.
Hell, we want to help you win down here in South Carolina in 2012, in large part because that will require some extensive alone time with our founding editor.
But if this keeps up, that’s not going to happen.
In fact, not only is it not going to happen, but you’re going to get chewed up and spit out all up and down the Grand Strand, ironically in large part thanks to that inner Barracuda, or “Mama Grizzly” that you’re so proud of.
Let’s recap the idiocy of this endeavor, shall we?
First, you grant some low-rent, right-wing nutjob an interview about how the media sucks. Again, big surprise.
Then, rather than showing your true toughness, you proceed to vent your spleen to this douchebag about every indignity done to you during the campaign, even bitching about how Tina Fey won “Entertainer of the Year.”
That doesn’t make you look strong, Sarah, it makes you look petty.
You’re better than that, we know it.
It’s okay to hate on the media. Trust us – we do it every day. It’s even okay to hate on anonymous blogs, but it’s how you do it that’s important.
Are we saying kill ‘em with kindness? No … kill ‘em by not letting their unkindness phase you … not even for a minute, not even a little bit.
You didn’t do that here, which is why anybody who watches this interview doesn’t walk away with a bad impression of the media … they walk away with a bad impression of you.
Oh, and to the idiot doing the whole HowObamaGotElected.com thing … duh. It’s not complicated.

She really is not “better than that”, just a stereotypical narcissistic drama queen. Her time in politics is coming to an end.

Specifically what double standard are we talking about here? The media did the same background investigation it does on every other candidate, and it just happened that Palin was so short on substance that the trivia of her life was all there was to talk about. You can’t seriously think that “unflattering edits” and out-of-context quotes made her sound as stupid as she did–she needed no help in that department.
Finally, any hypocrisy as far as her family’s privacy was on her part. Her argument went something like this: hey media, you can’t talk about my family, it exploits my children. But hey, look at how responsible our teenage daughter was once she got knocked up! Look at my special needs child! Aren’t I a great mother?!?

If you want to do Politics with a capital ‘P’ you’re right about South Carolina being the place to do it. South Carolina practically invented the word Politics, or at least it is our middle name: Mr. South Politics Carolina has a nice ring to it. I’ll take that punch now.
That’s all for now.

John McCain, in his shortsightedness, created this monster. He invaded her life with half-baked plans and now she just wants a big ol’ piece of that American pie. Actually…
>>>She wants she wants the whole freaking pie<<<

This coming from the woman who said she reads all of the newspapers and magazines. I am ready for Caribou Barbie to go back to Alaska and fade into the annals of idiots of history.

Katherine,
Our staff may start listening to you when you stop pandering with your silly super-trooper airborne combat soldier crap.
“Fights like a Army Paratrooper.” What cr@p.
You never fired a shot in anger unless you were mad at a paper target, but you profess to be a “combat veteran.” You were a PENCIL PUSHER not a combat vet!
You have a picture with General Norman. Wow! Over eleventy brazillion other soldiers have the same picture. Stormin’Norman has no clue who you are.
And John McCain pinned on your Lieutenant bars. Wow! Did you hear the news?
He got stomped by a landslide in the Presidential election.
Quit pandering. Voters in your district are too smart for that.

BIN — are you a puppet for a military brat, say mid-fifties, US Navy, that has some sort of pseudo guilt for not signing up with dear old Uncle Sam? Not really guilt, because there is a TREMENDOUS fear of death at issue — but some sort of vague sense of dereliction of duty? Which is actually motivated by a fear of death so great that it cripples his very life? And forces him to manipulate said life to everyone else’s peril? A paper pusher of WAR, perhaps? But not willing to get on that front line?
Just curious…

Mab, If you were old enough you would have been a draft dodger. In today’s Army the “don’t ask, don’t tell” must make you quivvver. Or, you could Join the Navy. You know, like The Village People! Join the Navy…
So, how much does Katherine pay for blogger services?
