Trouble In Spamelot
President-elect Barack Obama will release an internal report early this week that is said to clear his entire transition team – including Chief of Staff-designate Rahm Emanuel – of any wrongdoing in the still-swirling Senate seat scandal involving Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.
What’s that you say … an investigation of Obama’s people? Conducted by Obama’s people? And everybody’s clean?
No way.
In related news, an investigation of FITS by FITS concluded that we’re “the awesomest.” Like ever. Of course some people don’t agree, but …
Anyway, here’s what ABC’s George Snuffleupagus had to say about Obama’s “internal report” on his blog, George’s Bottom Line:
Sources tell me that the Obama team’s review of contacts with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich will show that Rahm Emanuel had only one phone conversation with Blagojevich.
The contact, described as a “pro-forma” courtesy call, came as Emanuel was named Chief of Staff for Obama. Most of the discussion concerned Emanuel’s Congressional seat (which had previously been held by Blagojevich), with only a “passing reference” to the Senate vacancy, according to these sources. No deal for the Senate vacancy was discussed.
But then there are other reports coming out of Chicago which say that Emanuel is on 21 recorded calls with Blagojevich.
In case you’re counting, that’s 20 more phone conversations than Obama’s team is admitting to Mr. Snuffleupagus.
Emanuel has been completely silent on the matter, by the way, which has only stoked speculation that he’s in this thing a little deeper than some think.
Whether one phone call or 21, though, there’s no denying at this point that Obama’s people have got the Blagojevich “taint,” which has totally overshadowed what was supposed to be the coronation of a second Camelot.

45 days as President-Elect and he already has to defend his administration? This is going to be a long 4 years.
What was the American people thinking?

Wow, we’re sure glad they told us they didn’t do anything wrong. Maybe now they can help OJ find the real killer.

“What was the American people thinking?”
Hopefully one of them “was” thinking it was time for a remedial writing class.
In other news on this subject: There is no news. Dream on sore losers. This is a non-issue. No smoke, no fire, just a bunch of morally and intellectually bankrupt Republicans praying for a thunderbolt from a blue sky. Keep praying.

Pat,
Believe it or not, I was in advanced writing in High School. It just so happened that I was educated in South Carolina Public Schools. Which, by the way, would be equal to a remedial class in most public high schools in our great country.
We can’t even say thank God for Mississippi anymore. I guess we can say, “Thank God, Obama didn’t pick Inez!”

Johnny,
You are aware who runs the state of SC, correct? I’m sure our state legislature’s disdain for education and SC’s pitiful public schools are in no way related.
In any event, I’m sorry for your struggles with the English language. If it makes you feel better, at least you can blame it on Hollywood Liberals, gay marriage, or the black folks. That template never gets old.

Patty,
Would that be the same legislature that pumped more money each year into our failed, corrupt education system? I think it is.
I have never blamed my struggles with the English language on any group. Well, maybe the educrats that run our pathetic, non-competitive education system can be blamed.
Hell, don’t blame the legislature, they were mostly educated here as well!
