Exclusive – SC Speaker Blasts Sic Willie
The most powerful politician in South Carolina broke out the heavy lumber yesterday against the state’s most feared (and handsome) political “blogger,” sending a derisive e-mail that quickly began making the rounds after a Lowcountry State Senator forwarded it to several friends and constituents on his e-mail list.
S.C. House Speaker Bobby Harrell – who has been getting his ass handed to him by the mainstream media for his efforts to preserve the culture of secrecy at the State House – repeatedly blasts FITS and our founding editor Sic Willie in the e-mail, which was sent yesterday morning to State Sen. Mike Rose.
From Harrell’s e-mail to Rose:
First of all, it is important that recipients of your previous email know that what you sent them earlier was not an article, but rather was a blog and this particularly blog frequently reports things that are not true. This blogger has said in the past that a member of the General Assembly from the midlands had a “Strom problemâ€. He said just a couple of months ago that I was working clandestinely to get my brother’s former law partner, Bill Thrower, elected a judge. Not that I have a problem with Bill, but it simply was not true. The legislative screening committee did not even report him out as a candidate for the General Assembly to vote on. Recently, this blog has said some terrible and untrue things about Ray Greenberg, president of MUSC. This blog on multiple occasions has called Bill Sandifer a racist and a drunk. Bill is House member from Seneca who was just elected chairman of the LCI committee with a unanimous vote. There are three black members on the LCI committee. I could give you many, many, many more examples, but I am certain you get the point. This blogger enjoys attacking peoples’ reputations, and apparently isn’t concerned about the validity of his posts.
Wowzers.
Feliz Navidad to you too, Mr. Speaker.
Anyway, we stand by every story published on this website – including each of the examples referenced by the Speaker in his e-mail.
Anybody who’s got a problem with that is welcome to speak with our legal dream team.
Having duly attacked the messenger, though, Speaker Harrell next turned his attention to the substance of what we wrote:
As far as I can tell without getting the articles back out and rereading them, the quotes from newspapers are accurate as to what was written in the paper, but many of the comments the blogger made about me are just plain wrong. This blogger apparently has never been concerned about whether or not his posts are truthful.
Wait … is it just us, or are those statements inherently contradictory?
Anyway, after reading a little bit further into Harrell’s e-mail, we learned that it’s not just us … apparently, the “newspapers” are also to blame:
While I think he correctly stated what was written in the papers, some of the things the newspapers have said are not accurate. I am absolutely for transparency and am in the process of contacting all of these newspapers to have this conversation with them.
Yeah … good luck with those conversations. Our recommendation would be to break from your current strategy and start telling them the truth.
Here’s the sad thing about this situation – Speaker Harrell can be an incredibly engaging, personable guy when he wants to be. We know this because we’ve hung out with him on several occasions, even picking up his bar tab once or twice.
When he’s not trying to impress everybody with how important he is, Bobby is actually good company. Even charming company.
Of course, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to square Harrell’s gregarious social persona with the caustic, vindictive man at the helm of an increasingly out-of-control House of Representatives.
Plus, let’s not lose sight of the fundamental, philosophical reasons underlying our criticism of Harrell – we believe in less government, he believes in more. We believe in job-creating tax cuts, he believes in populist tax swaps. We believe in voting on the record, he believes in pretending to.
Worst of all, Harrell is either too dumb or too corrupt to change.
And it’s not just his transparency “rope-a-dope,”
After presiding over the largest expansion of government in South Carolina history, Harrell now wants to give the same idiots who’ve been running this state into the ground even more control over every aspect of our economy.
We just can’t abide by that, and we’ll continue to say so – no matter what future hissy-fits may be forthcoming from the Mayor of Importantville’s office.

You really are kicking his ass. Its utterly hilarious. The Speaker of the House of Representatives is so concerned with the truth you tell that he has to email the entire House to “dispell” the truth back to his lies.
He is a liar.
He is a crook.
He is angry because it was the media who stole his seemingly inevitable run for governor when they broke the pharm scandal with his little crooked company Palmetto State Pharmaceuticals.
He has chosen to avenge his stolen opportunity by screwing the press and every citizen of South Carolina by the recent decisions he has made since that day. Take a look at the timeline….it will shock you.
The Post and Courier broke the “Bobbys a crook with his pharm dealings” story……two weeks later the company was “aministratively dissolved.” (check the secretary of states website. (yet another reason he is against transparency.) not more than a week or two after that Bobby announced he was “not running” for governor. Damn awkward coincidence if you ask me.
Now just look at his numerous attempts to kill transparency. He is ANGRY. PISSED that he is on the wrong side of the argument and is losing yet again.
What an issue to run for governor on. The Representative for the people….not just words…..but actually doing something…..actually mattering……something Bobby has never experienced in his entire life.
Someone will rise from this mess as the new leader of the conservative majority…….someone that you WANT to be behind because each and every one of you have made pledges to your constituents…..most of which are in writing or on tape…..and what a bitch it would be to only serve one term because your constituents find out you are as crooked as Bobby.
Mark my words freshmen…..do the right thing….all the time. We are watching very closely.

I am afraid poor Speaker Harrell has gone into a paranoid delusional tailspin. I recommend 200 mg of truth serum administered twice daily until he leaves office.
It is obvious he is unfit to hold public office (well maybe in Illinois)-
He does not understand the definition of the word TRANSPARENT . I hope he reads and can comprehend this post – Here is Webster’s definition of transparent-clear enough to be seen through- readily understood – easily detected – lucid-
Reality check please- if we the voters do not know who voted for what, then by definition there is no transparency- To believe otherwise ,as Speaker Harrell apparently does, is simply delusional.

While our teacher wouldn’t “let” us out of our Current Issues final today, we thought we make one for the Speaker.
A Few Questions for the Speaker:
1. How and why do you believe that South Carolinians are not entitled to transparency?
2. Why do you believe that it was Rep. Haley and Rep. Ballentines “fault†for supporting the Transparency Bill?
3. Why do you think our Government should “hide†things from us?
4. Why did you become a Republican when you support increased government and increased taxpayer dollar spending?
5. Why are you so afraid of Fits News?
6. “This Bloggger has never been concerned with whether or not his posts are truthful..†C’mon
7. Do you really admire Scott, Duncan, Erickson, Bingham, Merrill, Young, Cooper, White, Brady, and Limehouse, or do you just want to hang out with the “popular†people?
8. Explain the concept of our government deriving its powers from the consent of the governed? What should happen to an elected official if they abuse these privileges?
9. What the love affair with Fidel Castro, Pol Pot, and Stalin? Ok, current dictators only.
10. What’s the love affair with Hugo Chaves, Kim Jong IL, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?

Keep up the good work guys. Harrell is one of the reasons why South Carolina is 100 years behind the times. Until he realizes that he is part of the problem and not the solution, our state will never change. As a matter of fact, until most of our senators and representatives accept the fact that “they are the problem”, there will never be a “solution” to bring South Carolina into the 21st century.
The simple solution is to quit kissing others asses.

Definition of a Bobbyphile: someone who is on the Speaker’s payroll, either because he/she is too dumb to know what socialism is (like WMD), or because he/she doesn’t care what anyone stands for as long as there is a big paycheck and they don’t have to work too hard for it (like BIN). Both are either too lazy or too stupid to get actual private sector jobs.
As far as “Bobbyphiles” who have deep loyalty and respect for Harrell’s brilliant leadership skills and thoughtful ideas, you can find them in happy fairy land riding unicorns.

If we as individuals do not ask the right questions, we will simply allow ourselves to be led down a path chosen for us by people bent on pursuing their own agenda, shaped by ulterior motives. The refusal of journalists to ask hard questions, and the tolerance of the public at large to accept their softballs as valid investigation, must be repudiated if we are to hold people accountable for their actions and pursue the right course. Where there is smoke there is fire. Mr. Folk’s has addressed the underlying issues and is credible. If you choose to not believe him, check other sources.

The Echo Chamber Conspiracy
A conspiracy occurs whenever a group of individuals attempt to enrich themselves at the expense of the greater good. Every time a corporation hides data or attempts to run from the consequences of an environmental disaster, successfully uses political influence to write law and erode civil liberties, or engages in deceptive advertising, they are acting conspiratorially.

We’ve been promised change in the past. Contrarian politicians seeking to promote their party platform promise a change from the “status quo†and reform once in office. Have any followed through? It is evident that Reps. Ballentine and Haley are excellent examples of public servants that hold true to their word. They have NOT played on peoples emotions, haven’t tried to “capitalize†on the same promise we often hear of a “new way†often leaving out the specifics on just what they would change, and why it would really make a difference. We are very impressed with your passion for Transparency. It makes sense that “we can only change the world by changing men†(Charles Wells). Change begins with us, not the would be representatives seeking our vote. More citizens need to understand what is going on in the world that surrounds them and exercise their civil liberties that we are so Blessed with.

Bobby Harrell – Speaker of the House
Will Folks – The definition of conservatism (politics not women)and owner/writer of the most influential blog I have ever seen. (proof of the “most influential” award comes from the fact that the Speaker of the House is now emailing his colleagues specifically to talk about the “blogger.”
The Speaker of the House……the most influential man in all of the South Carolina state government…..takes time out of what he calls “fighting the good fight” or in other words raising taxes (cig tax with no corresponding tax decrease), increasing spending (40% over the last 4 years), and blocking transparency measures, to talk about a blogger.
That ladies and gentlemen, idiots and ideologues, sycophants and wannabe politicos, makes you influential.
Congratulations Fits. Keep up the good work. And a special thank you to our Speaker for keeping us so entertained.

Mr. Harrell is one of the better spin masters in the General Assembly. I’ll rely on the expertise of The SCPC, the Governor’s office, Comptroller General Eckstrom, Haley and Ballentine in the House, FITSnews, the Earl Capps blog, DCTA and Senator Rose any day. All of these entities are not wrong. If Mr. Harrell wants to suppress transparency, it will not go uncontested by WE THE PEOPLE OF SC. The people of SC want comprehensive roll call voting and on line check registries for state agencies as well as municipalities and school districts. The Governor of Illinois has been exposed. It’s time for complete and total sunshine in the SC General Assembly as well as municipalities and school districts. The voters of this wonderful state want and deserve no less. We’re in the midst of a fiscal crisis across this country and in our state. We don’t have time for politics as usual. Mr. Harrell presides over “THE PEOPLES’ HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND NOT THE BOBBY HARRELL HOUSE.

Good for you, Will! Stay on them. You too, Ron! It is a joke that our Speaker is sitting at his computer all day whining that he “is TOO for transparency!” No, Mr. Speaker, you aren’t and you haven’t fooled anyone in the state. Spend your energy helping Richard Eckstrom put every dime of spending online for the public. Sign on to Nikki Haley’s bill that calls for recorded votes on all legislation, including every section of the budget. Prove you support transparency by making it happen. While you’re at it, cut out all your pet projects so we don’t have to fire teachers. Focus on that, Bobby, instead of trying to defend yourself. BIN. Dude. Enough, aah-ight? Bobb-sy has already made a total freakin’ ass out of himself, grasping for straws to discredit anyone who calls him out. He’s already used all your best stuff — the “Strom problem” is apparently the magic special phrase. It is supposed to make the whole wide world believe everything you say, and change Sic into a toad. As for Bobb-sy’s spin that Will lied about that judge thing…seems to me that’s Sic’s word vs. his. Since your “proof” that Will lied about you and everyone else is the “Strom problem” (wow…writing that DOES make me feel like Lord Voldermort!), and Bobby-sy has lied, like, eleventy kabillion times — I’m going with Sic.
BIN, please give us some substance. Get some facts. Get a clever argument that makes sense. BIN. If you want to keep Sic “honest,” present the other side reasonably. It doesn’t count when you defend that pinheaded tyrant who runs the House with nothing more than “twice Will posted articles that he never followed up on, therefore every post that presents Bobby Harrell in a negative light is wrong.” No, they aren’t wrong, and at no point have you presented a valid argument as to why they are. Misnomer is right. Will has a track record, and we all take it into consideration when we read his stuff. For the most part, he’s been pretty dead on, and the fact that a couple of times he’s missed the mark doesn’t destroy his credibilty. If all he did was toss out unfounded gossip, he wouldn’t have the readership he does and none of us would waste our time. Also, your bosses wouldn’t pay you to criticize him all day. Well, Bobb-sy might. He’s pretty thin skinned.
So tell us, BIN. Was the Speaker right to squash roll call voting, and right to punish reformers, and right to refuse to allow any debate at all on their plan? Let’s see what you’ve got beyond Howie Rich and the Strom Problem — which is a worthless argument, but could be a decent name for a band.

Poor BIN – As we all know, there are some people who are childish – and never grow up – and they can only talk about other people and can not get over their feelings of angry or envy towards others .
Some people just talk about things – acquiring this or that possession.
The third group has the ability to think in abstract concepts, and thinks in broader issues affecting society, mankind, and government.
You Bin are in the childish group – rather than intellectually contributing to a blog regarding transparency in government, you are obsessed with Sic Willie’s bowel movements and also seem to have homophobic desires regarding a dead S.C.racist politician. Everyone here sees the joy you have typing in something you find to be clever regarding Sic Willie’s flatulence, and I can appreciate ( on a elementary level) how this brings deep meaning to your life – but quite honestly , your 2nd grade remarks detract from the rest of us, the third group, trying to uncover news and discuss ideas.

Dear 4 stooges,
You sound like carpetbugger consultants. They use words like “homophobic” and “abstract” without understanding what they mean.
They rant about “society, mankind and government” without caring a tinker’s doodle as long as their money masters pay them for what they say.
Actually, you all sound like the same carpetbugger political consultant.
Pumping up the old hit count again, sic(k) willie!?
To “uncover news” on sic(k) willie’s little porn site is about as likely as uncovering the Hope Diamond at the city sewer plant.
You may find something if you look long enough, but you will get covered in scat in the process. And the lumps you find won’t be diamonds.
BIN News is bored with your foolish retorts. Go get a job. Maybe a Vista bar is hiring. We might hire you for our BIN News Christmas Party.
