Sloppy Seconds Is Controversial

Hockey players can slash, punch, bite and gouge themselves to their heart’s content, but apparently making fun of their supermodel and movie star ex-girlfriends is off limits.

Just ask Dallas Stars’ forward Sean Avery.

Already suspended for conduct “detrimental to the league and the game hockey” regarding comments made about his ex-girlfriends Elisha Cuthbert and Rachel Hunter (yes, that Rachel Hunter), today Avery learned that he will not be invited back to the Dallas organization … period.

And unless the Stars can find a suitor for the troubled 28-year-old, they’re on the hook for $11.5 million of his contract.

So what did Avery do?

Well, shortly before a game against the Calgary Flames a week ago, he referred to Cuthbert and Hunter as his “sloppy seconds” (since both ladies are now dating other NHL players).

You can watch the video of Avery’s remarks by clicking here, assuming you’re into that sort of thing.

Don’t get us wrong, it’s not classy. And Avery has a reputation for being a monumental prick – which is no doubt why everybody who could have turned on him in this situation (including his teammates) did turn on him.

But seriously, Dallas … taking an $11.5 million bath? In this economy? For an infraction like this?

This hockey team is clearly in a lot better financial shape than the rest of us, people.

Oh, and for your viewing pleasure, here are the “sloppy seconds” themselves … and yes, there’s a reason that Stacy’s Mom is our Today’s Tuneage.

Hockey players are Clempson fans from the 51 state.

Gah – if I had an opportunity to be with women like that, I’d take this dude’s sloppy thirds, fourths, fifths, I don’t care!
